A DIYer with ADHD = having a to-do list and suddenly deciding now is the perfect time to do something completely unrelated instead. Anyone else do this? #womenwhodiy #adhdinwomen #diyhomeimprovement by @letscaulkaboutit
PAINT SHEEN CHEAT SHEET 🎨 Not sure which paint sheen to use where? These are the finishes I reach for most in my DIY projects: Most walls → Eggshell A little sheen makes it washable while still being forgiving of imperfections. High-traffic or moisture-prone walls → Satin More durable and easier to wipe clean. Trim, doors, beadboard + shiplap → Satin or semi-gloss A smooth, finished look, a little contrast from the walls, and easier to clean. Ceilings → Flat Helps hide imperfections and roller marks, with less light reflection. Cabinets + furniture → Satin or semi-gloss Choose paint made specifically for cabinets or furniture so it cures harder and stands up to everyday wear. There’s no reason you’re supposed to just know this stuff. Save this paint sheen cheat sheet for your next painting projects. SPOILER ALERT: Two years later, this vanity still passes the scratch test. I’d already gone through the sand, prime, paint, repeat nightmare with my kitchen cabinets, and I was not about to do that again on a small vanity. So I tested a paint that said no sanding or priming was necessary. Honestly, I thought it was going to be a disaster. The first coat had me questioning every life choice, but by the second coat it was looking like a brand-new vanity. Add fresh hardware, and suddenly I was wondering why I’d put this off so long. One thing to know: dry doesn’t mean cured. Beyond Paint says to give it 5–7 days or more for its initial cure, and up to 30 days to fully cure. Don’t judge the durability too soon. If you’ve been putting off painting a cabinet because the process feels intimidating, this is a beginner-friendly DIY. Save this for your next vanity makeover…and tell me, would you try it? The 10-minute version of me is wildly optimistic Please tell me I’m not the only one who starts a project when I’m supposed to getting ready to walk out the door #womenwhodiy by @letscaulkaboutit
Apparently, I can’t even carve pumpkins without turning it into a power tool project. 🎃😂 Put my Hyper Tough oscillating multi-tool and drill to work for a little Halloween DIY. Please tell me I’m not the only one who looks for any excuse to use her power tools? #womenwhodiy #pumpkincarving #powertools by @letscaulkaboutit
My ADHD loves a checked box. Build a website? Done. What I didn’t realize was that “having a website” and having a website that actually supports your business are two very different things. When I started “Let’s Caulk About It” my previous website made perfect sense. I was creating DIY content, growing my social media presence and connecting with an incredible community of women. Somewhere along the way, though, this little social media page became an actual business. So it was time for my online presence to catch up too. You can now find me at letscaulkaboutit.llc — a web address that better reflects what Let’s Caulk About It has grown into and gives my business a professional home beyond social media. If you’re building a business too, use my code: letscaulkaboutit.llc to get $1 off your own .llc domain subscription. Remember when I said I was going to try carving pumpkins with my oscillating multi-tool? 🎃 Well, I did it! I wasn’t sure how this would work, but I didn’t mind sacrificing a few pumpkins to find out!! Pumpkin carving is already such a messy and time-consuming process, I’m all for making it easier with a little bit of power! Tools I used: 🛠️ Hyper Tough 12V oscillating multi-tool 🛠️ Hyper Tough 20V Drill 🛠️ Hyper Tough 12V Rotary Tool Have you ever tried carving pumpkins with power tools? 🎃 Share this with someone who’s getting ready to carve their Halloween pumpkins…it’s time to bring out the power! #womenwhodiy #hypertoughpartner #girlswithpowertools by @letscaulkaboutit
One tool that can cut, sand, scrape, AND make plunge cuts? Yes, please! 🙋‍♀️🛠️ If you’re just getting started with power tools, let me introduce you to the oscillating multi-tool. I call it the Swiss Army knife of power tools because swapping out the attachments lets you tackle so many different jobs! From sanding tight corners and cutting drywall to removing old flooring and cutting PVC, this is the tool you’ll reach for over and over I’m using my Hyper Tough oscillating multi-tool to show you just a few of the possibilities. And next? I’m going to see what it can do to a giant pumpkin. 🎃😂 Have you used a multi-tool before, or is this one new to you? #girlswithpowertools #hypertoughpartner #diytips by @letscaulkaboutit
Ever wonder why a 2×4 doesn’t actually measure 2 inches by 4 inches? 📏 If you’re just getting started with DIY projects, this is one of those little things that’s really helpful to understand! Lumber is sold using nominal dimensions, but those aren’t the actual measurements you’ll be working with. Here’s a quick reference: 1×4 = ¾″ × 3½″ 2×4 = 1½″ × 3½″ 2×6 = 1½″ × 5½″ 2×8 = 1½″ × 7¼″ And even a slight difference in measurements can make a BIG difference! Imagine building a bookshelf with four sections. If you plan for each 2×4 divider to be 2 inches thick instead of 1½ inches, your measurements could be off by 2 inches! Shop by the nominal size, but build with the actual measurements! Tools I’m using: My Hyper Tough measuring tape and 20v Brushless circular saw. 🛠️ Save this one for your next DIY project, especially if you’re new to working with lumber! #hypertough #girlswithpowertools #diytips by @letscaulkaboutit
Apparently, growing up with a dad who let me figure things out gave me a lot of confidence around the house. I know not everyone was taught basic home repair, power tools and how to DIY. That’s why I make the tutorials I do: to help you learn the things you may not have been taught, one project at a time. What’s one thing you wish you were taught how to do? #homerepairs #girlswithpowertools #fixityourself by @letscaulkaboutit
