STOP SHOOTING EVERYTHING AT 1X📱

Here’s how I used the different iPhone cameras at Boulders Beach, Cape Town 🐧🇿🇦

START WIDE 🌊

Before looking for the perfect subject, show us where you are.

Use the wider camera to establish the scene and give your viewer a sense of place.

📍Think location first, subject second.

1X FOR THE STORY 📱

1x keeps more of the environment in your frame.

Use it when the location is part of the photograph, not just the background.

🐧 The penguin is the subject, but Boulders Beach is part of the story.

ZOOM FOR THE SUBJECT 🔍

Don’t always walk closer just because you can.

Use zoom when you want to isolate your subject and remove some of the surrounding distractions.

📱 Sometimes the better photograph comes from taking a step back and zooming in.

ZOOM CHANGES THE STORY 👀

A wider frame tells us WHERE.
A tighter frame tells us WHAT.

Neither is better.

They’re simply telling different parts of the story.

WAIT FOR THE MOMENT 🐧

Once you’ve chosen your focal length, don’t just start shooting.

Watch.

Wait.
Then capture the moment.

📸 The interaction between these two penguins made the photograph.

THE TAKEAWAY 🚀

SAME LOCATION.
DIFFERENT FOCAL LENGTH.
DIFFERENT STORY

The trick isn’t always finding the “best” camera.

It’s choosing the camera that tells the story you want to tell📱

Shot on iPhone 18 Pro Max.

YOUR IPHONE TRAVEL CHEAT SHEET 📱

🌊 Wide → Establish the location
📱 1x → Tell the story
🔍 Zoom → Isolate the subject
👀 Closer → Capture the details
🐧 Any lens → Wait for the moment

SAVE THIS FOR YOUR NEXT TRIP.
