Let X=y
Track title: Tholins
Spacey ambient dub overtones.
A new track, recorded as a single, hardware only take in my studio space. Here I'm testing a possible set-up to take out and use for playing live shows.

The SH-101 is a new addition to my rig, and here its internal sequencer is being clocked by the Elektron Cycles (using one track panned hard right to send a rimshot sound to the SH-101 ext clock in). The 101 is being given liberal amounts of delay and reverb from the RE-20 via the Mackie mixer FX return buss.
The other tracks of the Model Cycles percussion are run in mono from the left out to the mixer, where it is being glitched-up by the Meris Ottobit Jr.
The Mininova is a custom drone patch I created using the arp setting and internal reverb with patch variations from the four Animate buttons.
Recorded into Ableton Live with a bit of compression-limiter to tame the peaks.
I hope you like it.

For the nerdier info-heads out there: Tholins are abiotic (ie: not created from living organisms) complex organic solids that are formed by chemistry from energy input (often UV rays in space), these chemicals form sticky solid and gaseous hydrocarbons. Thought are sometimes jokingly referred to as 'star-tar' and they are what make dwarf planet Pluto and it's binary cousin Charon so red in places. Tholins were named by Carl Sagan and Bishun Khare back in 1979.

Uuxe & Floored Interior
Uuxe & Floored Interior are the ambient projects of Jack Brock (Naarm) and Matt England (Magandjin). After playing in bands together nearly 15 years ago, their recent collaboration is sparse and largely improvised, assembled live from modular and analog synthesis and the slow erosion of recorded fragments.

Got along to The Signal Path and Noisegate night at Howler (Dawson St, Brunswick Vic) for the presentation of the Korg PS3300 FS re-issue. An incredible behemoth of a synth brought back from the mid-70s with the same love and care that Korg brought to their ARP 2600 project. by @letxequaly

Perkons Nightfall is the first official video from the Let X=y release Perkons Planet. It is dream-like trip into a strange world of environmental pulses and loops with the Erica Synths Perkons HD-1 creating the rhythmic bed and many of the ear candy sounds on top.
The beautiful drone footage taken by Alex Kane of ocean swell crashing on the black sand beach of Reynisfjara Vik, Iceland is overlaid with a 1960s Soviet-era, school science film about Alexander Oparin’s hypothesis of primordial organic compounds...and somehow it really seems to fit with the electronic soundscape.
The science film was saved and transferred from the original vintage 16mm reel by Callum at Memory Lab (Naarm). We've added some handmade animation and random visual textures to make it all a bit more surreal and hypnotic.
A big thank you to Ģirts and Katrīna at Erica Synths for letting me use the Perkons name in this project.

Black Cab at Northcote Social Club to launch their new single Strange Attraction. They exploded out of the blocks ready to rock and the audience was totally up for it. Great sound, cracking set and loads of hot sweaty bodies on the floor. Big ups to Solar Cells (Mat Watson) and DJ Samara Cooper in support. Brilliant night and everyone left with big smiles! by @letxequaly

Caught Mat Watson (Solar Cells) doing his support slot at Northcote Social Club as part of the Black Cab single launch.
What a great set, lots of swells and builds, cool sounds and little arpeggios. The audience a bit diffident at the start but slowly edging forward and starting to move to the beats as the set built up. I really enjoyed it, great stuff! by @letxequaly

Performing at Signals Ambient 3rd Birthday event 26 July 2026. The track playing is the intro bit to Perkons Nightfall. Thanks all for a great friendly night. by @letxequaly
