POSTS STORIES REELS

Hi friends! In the coming weeks, we’d love to share some “foster spotlights” with you to help tell our story and connect you with the amazing people and kitties who make up Liberation Cat House. We couldn’t think of a better way to kick things off than by telling y’all about two very special kittens who shaped our rescue. Some of you who’ve been with us since the very beginning may know this story and may even remember seeing posts of these two babies. For those who don’t, I’m happy to tell you about these cuties. Please forgive the grainy cell phone pictures, folks. This is 2017 we’re talking about here.

When I first started fostering for @orangecountyanimalservices, I found myself drawn to the cats who needed a little extra help, particularly the ones with medical challenges the shelter wasn’t equipped to handle. On April 28, 2017, I brought home two adorable siblings, Finn and Marceline. They were actually named Jack and Diane by the shelter, but I *strongly dislike* that John Mellencamp song. Adventure Time names were way better.

Finn and Marceline were blind, covered in scabies, and had little apple-shaped heads that hinted at genetic issues. Despite everything stacked against them, they were the sweetest, most affectionate kittens. Everyone who met them fell in love. They taught me to trust my gut and to advocate fiercely for an animal’s needs.

For four months, I got to experience the joy and love that were Finn and Marceline. Then, on August 24th, my heart was shattered when I lost Finn to a previously unknown congenital kidney issue. Four days later, Marcline was gone because of the same congenital issue. I was heartbroken and felt like I had failed them. I don’t think I’ve ever been so deeply impacted by animals, aside from one of my current soul cats.

From time to time, we get questions about our kitten adoption policy. We ask that kittens either be adopted in pairs or go to a home with a friendly, playful cat looking for a kitten buddy. We don’t place kittens under six months in homes where they’d be the only cat.

Even for kitties over six months, it’s not a given that we’ll adopt them out solo—it really depends on the cat. Many adult cats also love having a companion, and we’re committed to doing what’s best for each and every cat that comes into our care. No compromises.

We didn’t set this policy arbitrarily. There are many reasons for this—like avoiding single kitten syndrome, cutting down on biting and destructive behaviors, and boosting learning and socialization with other cats. This means more mental and physical stimulation for the kitties, which leads to a fuller, happier life.

Huge thanks to all of you who have been following us for a while and get it — ultimately, we’re just here for the cats. As an entirely volunteer-run team, we pour our hearts into getting our kitties healthy and helping them thrive. Everything we do, including our adoption policies, is about giving them the very best start in their new homes. 🖤 by @liberationcathouse

$✨Adopt Felix ✨ Today is THE day! We are officially accepting pre-adoption applications for Felix! Felix is an approximately 3-month-old male kitten who came into foster care about six weeks ago after sustaining a displaced fracture of his left femur, along with non-displaced fractures of his left tibia and fibula. He underwent surgical repair of his femur and has spent the last five weeks recovering with us. His recovery has been remarkable! At his most recent veterinary follow-up, it was recommended that the pin in his leg be permanently removed, so he is scheduled for one final little surgery next week. After a few days of recovery, he’ll be ready to head off to his forever home! And let us tell you… this boy is WORTH THE WAIT! 😻 Felix is exceptionally affectionate, incredibly friendly, and absolutely LOVES spending time with his humans. Expect endless purrs, endless antics, lots of snuggles, and a whole lot of entertainment. He is truly the sweetest little lovebug! A little about Felix:
🐱 Approximately 3 months old
💉 Vaccinated
✂️ Neutered
💊 Dewormed
❤️ Adoption fee: $125
🐾 Felix Must go to a home with another friendly cat or kitten We are hoping to find Felix his perfect family so he can spend the holidays snuggled up in his very own forever home. He has worked so hard to get here, and now it’s time for his happily ever after! 🎄❤️ #kittens #kitten #adopt #fyp #cuteness Interested in adopting Felix? Meet Pip! He was found by one of our wonderful adopters behind a Domino's Pizza with a healed tail injury so they reached out to us for help with vetting him. He was neutered on Friday and now he's ready to find a forever home! He is about 4 months old.

His foster parents say this about him: "He’s a very energetic kitty, he loves to play with the other cats, and he’s very vocal! He’s very friendly, we just had people over for Halloween and he let everyone hold him like a baby!"

Pip's adoption fee is $125. He is neutered, received age appropriate vaccines, negative for FIV/FELV, and microchipped. Kittens under 6 months must be adopted as a pair with another LCH kitty or go to a home with another playful cat to be their friend.

Well well well, look what the cat dragged in... This noxious bunch arrived just when the veil between life and whatever comes after is thinnest. They will continue ripening in the conservatory for a few weeks yet, then they will be ready for harvest. Be wary, time grows short...

The Bugs visited the ophthalmologist yesterday! 🐞👓

Starting off with Mr. Bumblebee! Although both of Bumblebee’s eyes have already ruptured, we may still be able to salvage his right eye. It’s sealed off in a way that he may be able to retain the eye and still see shadows / perceive light, which would be a huge win. His left eye is super funky though, and the lens is now extruding, so that one will definitely need to go once he’s a bit bigger & stronger!

Grasshopper’s right eye has also ruptured, and it’s caused his lower eyelid to roll inward. It will need to be removed once he gains some weight. Thankfully his left eye is perfectly fine though!

Firefly’s left eye has *also* already ruptured and will most likely need to be removed once her congestion clears up. She also has a deformity in her right eye called persistent pupillary membranes, but it thankfully doesn’t impact her vision too much.

And Ladybug is perfectly fine but didn’t want to be left out of the post! 😉

The babies will have a recheck in a few weeks, but it sounds like there will be quite a few enucleations in our future. Donations towards their ongoing medical care and future surgeries are always so greatly appreciated! ❤️‍🩹 by @liberationcathouse

Taco has been returned to us for inappropriate urination outside the litter box and other stress-related reactions. She was originally adopted in 2022.

On Friday, we got her into our vet to check her blood work and run a urinalysis. The bloodwork came back normal but her urinalysis showed very concentrated urine as well as RBCs present. Our vet felt this is a classic case of Feline Idiopathic Cystitis, or FIC. Stress can cause bladder inflammation in some cats which leads to inappropriate peeing. Taco is starting a short course of pain relief and antiinflammatories as well as a Rx urinary diet to see if that helps manage her symptoms.

Once we have that under control, she will be available for adoption to a home without any other cats. We aren't sure what could have caused her to react so defensively to the other cats in her old home, but she seems happier on her own. She is very affectionate, purrs constantly, likes to chirp, and enjoys being brushed. by @liberationcathouse

On this day of remembrance for the pets we have loved and lost, we are celebrating the lives of a few fosters who crossed the rainbow bridge this year.

Some lived long, beautiful lives full of love and adventures and some were earth side for too short a time.

Their lives had meaning. Their lives were important. Tonight, we welcome them back into our homes and our hearts, to spend a little time with them before they leave tomorrow at daybreak.

We're still trying to catch up on sleep after our double-header weekend! But we can't miss the opportunity to express how grateful we are to Sarah at @tabbytattoostudio for everything she has done over the years and to all the artists who contributed their flash artwork, time, and energy to benefit the kitties on Saturday! They raised over $3500 and we truly couldn't be happier to partner with (and befriend!) these incredible humans 🩷🧡💜

On Sunday, we were out at @gideonsbakehouse at East End Market for their annual Black Cat Fundraiser! Steve and his team have been supporters since the early days and their continued support means the world to us and helps our little rescue to keep moving forward. We loved seeing everyone who turned out and we had one of our best merch sales days ever!

From the bottom of our spooky hearts, thank you for celebrating black cat season with us 🖤 by @liberationcathouse

Meet the camera kittens! 📸 Leica (dilute tortie girl), Polaroid (gray boy), Nikon (gray boy), and Kodak (black boy).

These four were found in someone’s backyard, and they’re still a little skittish, but they’re warming up fast in foster care. Watching them discover toys for the first time is the cutest thing ever, even if sudden movements still send them flying. They’re also obsessed with squeeze treats and are slowly figuring out that life indoors with humans has some perks.

They need a little more time, but we’re so confident these babies are going to make amazing companions. Follow along to watch their transformations! by @liberationcathouse
