👋 Meet Janet! There are lots of ways residents across Lichfield District help keep their communities safe, and volunteering is one of them. Janet Taylor is one of our local Community Speedwatch volunteers, giving up her time to make a difference in her community. We caught up with Janet to find out more about what she does and why she enjoys volunteering. A big thank you to Janet and all the volunteers helping to make Lichfield District a safer place to live 💜 #OurLichfieldDistrict #CommunitySafety #volunteering by @lichfielddistrictcouncil
Know the law before you ride… Privately owned e-scooters are illegal to ride on public roads, pavements, cycle tracks and in parks. They can only be legally ridden on private land with the landowner’s permission. We want everyone to stay safe and make responsible choices when it comes to e-scooters and e-bikes, so we’ve brought together advice to help you: • Understand the laws around e-scooters • Know where you can and can’t ride • Recognise the rules for e-bikes and how to use them safely Plus, take our quick e-scooters and e-bikes quiz before Sunday 29 November for the chance to win some great prizes, including go-karting for two at Midland Karting, family feast vouchers from KFC and a meal voucher for four at McDonald’s! 🌺 Prince's Park, Britain's smallest park, has once again been transformed with thousands of handmade poppies, thanks to the incredible efforts of Friends of Princes Park. Months of knitting, crocheting and preparation have gone into creating this year's display, which includes traditional red poppies alongside purple poppies honouring the animals that served during conflict. It's a wonderful example of our community coming together to remember those who served and sacrificed. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed their time and creativity to make this special display possible. If you're passing through Burntwood, take a moment to visit and see it for yourself. With Remembrance Sunday taking place this weekend, there will be opportunities across the district to come together and pay our respects, whether at a local war memorial or one of the Remembrance parades and services. #RemembranceSunday #WeWillRememberThem #Burntwood #LichfieldDistrict by @lichfielddistrictcouncil

From collecting your bins and recycling to maintaining our parks, supporting residents and keeping essential services running, Lichfield District Council delivers more than 60 services across the district. This year, the net cost of our services works out at £144.26 per resident. But Council Tax doesn’t cover all of that! And did you know that only around 9% of your overall Council Tax bill goes to Lichfield District Council? 💬 Now we want to hear from you! We’re planning our budget for 2027/28 and want to know which services matter most to you. Where should we spend more, protect spending or make savings? 👉 Have your say in around 5 minutes, visit our website. Consultation closes Wednesday 18 November. by @lichfielddistrictcouncil

Are you attending a Bonfire Night celebration this November? 🎆 Whether you’re heading to an organised fireworks display or planning to celebrate at home, it’s important to keep safety in mind. Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has some simple advice to help everyone enjoy Bonfire Night safely: • Only buy fireworks from licensed retailers and always follow the instructions on the packaging. • Stand well back when fireworks are lit and never return to a firework once it has been set off. • Keep children at a safe distance from fireworks and bonfires. Never let them handle fireworks. • Never use fireworks if you have been drinking alcohol. • Be mindful of neighbours, pets and wildlife, as fireworks can be distressing for animals. • Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose close by in case of an emergency. • If you’re lighting a bonfire, make sure it is well away from buildings, fences, trees and anything else that could catch fire. For further advice on staying safe this Bonfire Night, visit the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service website - link in comments. by @lichfielddistrictcouncil
