The Story of Jesus Christ by @lightenprint

Hi! We’re Maddie & Kindal, and we’re so happy you’ve found us here either through our Kickstarter or maybe a friend’s cute Easter basket!

Lighten Print is our start up to bring beautifully simple resources to families to help teach what matters most. Our new website is LIVE where you can find both versions of our new book, “Savior.” And soon we will be offering art prints and sharing exciting news about some retail spaces that will be bringing “Savior” to store shelves!

Mostly, we’re just grateful you’re here for the journey with us as we take our passion project from idea to book to bigger plans.

Some fun facts about us: We’re friends from high school where Maddie danced while Kindal was running miles and miles, we both love road tripping our kids all over creation, and we’re so grateful for how often we each love doing what the other would prefer to never ever have to think about when it comes to our projects. 🙃

Where are you from and how did you find Lighten? ☀️ by @lightenprint

Talking all about “Savior” on Good Things Utah as we head into the final week of our Kickstarter. by @lightenprint

We never knew we’d do so much learning as we go: with grief, loss, goals, creation, all of it.

Sometimes we spend hours a day on this project together. Sometimes we’ve had to spend months just getting by.

Life looks nothing like we pictured.

But we both feel a fuel from creation, and a constant desire to share what we make with more families. Because we write and paint about what matters most to us.

And then we share what we make, which feels much less intuitive to us than the making :)

But the moments we’ve felt inspired or guided or helped with our creation process, those are treasures to us.

Most of life isn’t like that. And that’s ok.

But making time to let that inspiration happen and acting on that guidance as best we can has been a beautiful experience for us.

Thanks for being here through it all.

We finished cloud week, here’s day 6 of 6!

Setting a small goal to work towards something bigger — clouds for a week until we catch the vision of our next book’s cover.

This cloud week was earlier this month, and since then we’ve FINISHED the cover and it’s currently being digitized!

That means we’re so very close to finalizing the file of our book. We’re so antsy to bring it to life 💛☁️✨

We’ve never shared this much of our process, we’re used to just presenting our final product.

But getting the cover of our book right has been hours of planning, talking, painting, thinking, feeling.

This is day 5 of 6 in our clouds week, all to get the details right for the final book cover.

The book is about staying close to heaven and how we’re walking each other back there. Clouds have come to represent so much for us. ☁️

No one ever really sees the hours behind every detail of creation.

If something isn’t coming easy, or feels like it’s taking so much more time and effort than you expected — normal. Doesn’t erase the frustration, but hopefully erases the lonely. The things that matter take time, and we’re surrounded by slow beauty if we look for it.

This is Clouds Day 4 of 6. If you missed it, this week we’re painting clouds each day until we feel at peace with the finishing touches for the cover of our next book.

The book is all about staying close to heaven and how we’re walking each other back there. Sometimes having your head in the clouds means keeping that perspective. ☁️

This song on repeat, and feeling closer to heaven.

This is Clouds Day 3. If you missed it, this week we’re painting clouds each day until we feel at peace with the finishing touches for the cover of our next book.

The book is all about staying close to heaven and how we’re walking each other back there. Sometimes clouds really are the best reminder of that.

I’ve never done this before! But I taped my paper down so I could use even more water on this cloud practice.

We’re experimenting! This is day 2 of 6 of painting clouds this week, all to practice for the final details of the cover of our next book. ☁️

We’re just loving spending the week in the clouds and taking you along for the ride. Here’s day 2!

Last week was “clouds week” and here’s why.

We’re just a few little details away from sending the cover of our book to the printer (the rest is DONE), and we’re spending the week in the clouds.

Six days of clouds, one final product to be the face of our book.

Here you go, “Clouds Day One.” We’re taking you along for the ride!

MYTH: You have to have a project all figured out before you start it.

Just start. We kind of love that there are things we would change about things we’ve done before, because that just means growth. But if we waited for the growth before we started, we’d have nothing to build from.

Also you might not have guessed it, but this little shot is some book cover inspo / sneak peek!

The REAL reason we made two versions of our book: because we truly can’t pick just one. And here’s why.

We always had our premium, hardcover board book in our mind during the years we were making our book. We wanted something beautiful and high quality that could stay out on display and offer even more chances for kids to open up the pages.

But then it turned out SO beautiful (💁‍♀️) that we were worried parents wouldn’t let kids touch it! (This would be a children’s book fail, guys.)

So then we made a version that kids can TOTALLY be kids with. Tear proof. Washable. Indestructible. Light and packable. This is the book ready for diaper bag olympics.

Now, we have two versions and they both have a place in our heart. One on display or reading together as a family. One on the go for everyday moments and life’s messes.

We wanted two purposes, two price points, two versions that helped families find the right book for them.

So tell us, which would you choose?
