October 21st is Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Appreciation Day in Ontario. ✨💜

Sharing my personal story as ECE student in pictures💜

Care counts, and so do the people who provide it. 🌿👶✨

Today marks the 26th annual Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Appreciation Day across Ontario.

Today, cities and school boards all over Ontario officially recognize October 21st to say a collective “thank you” to the workforce.

Why ECEs are the Heart of Our Communities? 🐻
As an ECE student here in Toronto, I see firsthand how vital this work is. ECEs aren’t just watching children-they are building the foundations for the future:

• Nurturing Early Minds: They guide early literacy, problem-solving, and emotional growth during a child’s most critical years.
• Supporting Families: Safe, high-quality child care gives parents peace of mind and keeps our entire community moving forward.
• Creating Belonging: Early learning spaces are where children first learn to share, collaborate, and thrive together.

Growing Together for a Better Future✨💜

While a simple “thank you” warms our hearts, true appreciation means making sure this profession is sustainable. Right now, Canada is building a historic early learning system, but for it to truly succeed, we need to lift up the educators at the center of it.

That is why ECEs, families, and allies are coming together in a positive push for change. We are advocating for better workforce standards and fair compensation so that passionate educators can afford to stay in the careers they love.

During my education I was happy to learn a lot new about childcare, good parenting and respect for such a prominent growth way children go through every day! ✨💜
I appreciate my teachers, professors and mentors🇨🇦

Let’s turn appreciation into lasting support. If you want to stand with Toronto’s educators, join us for the “Care Counts” Rally at Queen’s Park on Tuesday, October 29th.

Together, we can build a brighter future for our children and the educators who care for them! 🇨🇦👋

It’s the 3rd day of nonstop cramps, when I fight for my life. 🩸

For the last 12 years, since my first period started, I have lived with this pain.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I had a high fever, severe pain, cramps, and all the symptoms I still have every month to this day.

Every month for all 7 days, I almost cannot move. I cannot walk, my vision gets blurry, I get lightheaded, and I feel extensive, severe pain in my stomach, my back, my legs, and all over my body. I mostly sleep, taking heavy medication for pain relief and bleeding. 🩸

My iron level dropped to 12 and it doesn’t go up with any medication. 💊

And just recently, after 12 years of thinking, “this is just what I have to go through as a person with a uterus,” I was finally diagnosed with Dysmenorrhea, and Menorrhagia. And getting diagnosed with Adenomyosis🩸

I was in my bathroom dealing with awful cramps and decided to just stop fighting it and listen to what my body wanted to do. 🩸

I got down on my knees, dropped my head, and started gently moving. It felt completely intuitive.

It turns out I was practicing ancient, pelvic-opening movements that women have used for centuries.

If you deal with dysmenorrhea (painful periods) or menorrhagia (heavy bleeding), here is exactly what I did, what they are called, and why they work:

🧘‍♀️ Child’s Pose (Balasana) & Cat-Cow Pose (Marjaryasana-Bitilasana)

• What it does: Alternating between a forward fold on your knees (Child’s Pose) and gently arching/rounding your spine on your hands and knees (Cat-Cow).

• Why it works: Moving between these poses acts like a gentle internal massage for your abdomen. It stretches the lower back, releases tension in the pelvic floor muscles, and increases oxygen-rich blood flow to the uterus to stop painful cramping.

🤸‍♀️ Inverted Forward Folds / Standing Forward Bend (Uttanasana)

• What it does: Dropping your head low while supporting your body, allowing your torso to hang down toward the floor.

• Why it works: This creates an “inverted” position that completely changes the tilt of your pelvis. It uses the power of gravity to help your uterus shed its lining and pass blood or clots much more efficiently, ending the stall that causes deep, aching pain.

Our bodies are incredibly smart. For anyone else dealing with painful or heavy periods, getting on the floor and moving with gravity might be exactly what your body is asking for.

Have you ever tried intuitive movement or yoga for period relief? Let me know! 👇
