Forget the museum. I find my history where the hammer falls.
Here, art doesn‘t just hang. It waits.
For the right eyes. The right hands. The right story.
Pierre auctions. Lilly dances.
You? Come. Look. Maybe stay.

Lilly…born into a military family…possessing the dual personalities of a general father and an artist mother…on the island of Malta, far from her hometown, she studies Tai Chi under the tutelage of Gino, an Italian master of Chinese Kung Fu…My teammate is a beautiful Ukrainian woman…how gorgeous…Romance never needs a reason…isn’t it? As long as you have a kind, brave, and strong heart…the world is yours…Although I can only say it…actually, I cry every day…I guess artists and poets are all like this…

The Man Who Drove History Back to Malta

I met a man today in Valletta. An old British soldier. He had a scar on his neck — surgery, he said. His voice was a little unclear. But his eyes were sharp.

He was standing next to a car. A 1939 Standard Flying Nine. Small. Dark. Old enough to have seen the war.

He told me the story. He bought it in England in 2021. Then he towed it back to Malta — through Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Sicily. Five days on the road. He gave it the number plate “1939”. He wears his old uniform when he drives it. He took it to Sicily for the anniversary of Operation Husky — 400 kilometres in 48-degree heat. It was displayed in a museum in Catania.

He didn’t say any of this to impress me. He said it because I asked. Because I stopped. Because I looked at the car and then looked at him and said: “Tell me.”

His voice was hard to follow. His neck was scarred. But he stood there in the Valletta sun and told me about a car that survived a war, a crossing, and a man who refused to let it disappear.

This is what I love about this island. You walk down the street, and history is standing there — in uniform, next to a 1939 Standard Flying Nine, waiting for someone to ask.

I asked. He told me. Now I’m telling you.
