| Dreamy conversations with the paintings I see in my dreams. Joan’s spirit flows all around @saicpics and each time I see her work up close I fall a little more in love. @artinstitutechi and @ngadc both have amazing Monet’s, but these by far are my favorites. One word: waterlilies Exquisite curation of Mitchell and Monet in conversation, and I got to see the Joan Mitchell retro I missed at home @baltimoremuseumofart. I visit each of their work, daily, along with Howardena Pindell, taking notes on the technical finesse, sensuality, and color theory, so to spend hours feeling the works on the wall, was quite the experience. My heart is full, my soul revived. I believe in life’s echoes, and if you know me, you know I love a disruptor. 🎨 by @lindsaybriadams

LINDSAY ADAMS | Errantry On view through October 31, 2026 PATRON is proud to present our second solo exhibition, Errantry, with Chicago-based artist Lindsay Adams (b. 1990, Washington D.C.). Informed by Edouard Glissant’s examination of errantry in his 1990 publication, Poetics of Relation, Adams’s exhibition highlights the sense of sacred motivation and wandering in the intuitive gestures that dance across her compositions.  @lindsaybriadams #lindsayadams #patrongallery by @lindsaybriadams
“We don’t have the privilege to just be basic.” Painter Lindsay Adams (@lindsaybriadams) on why talent alone isn’t enough for Black artists, live at GloryLand 2026 in Houston. From “Talent Isn’t Enough: How Artists Break Through” with Lindsay Adams, collector Rashad Delph (@rashaddelph) and curator Dexter Wimberly (@dexterwimberly), moderated by @moriahalisee. This conversation was held in the ballroom of our official hotel sponsor, @hotelsaintaugustine. Stage furniture by The Studio House (@thesstudiohouse) and Sweenshots Studios (@sweenshotsstudios). Their studio memberships give creators, brands and photographers regular studio time without booking hour by hour. Is talent enough? Tell us what else it took. Send this to an artist who needs it today. Watch the full conversation on the GloryLand 2026 replay. | Defiance | Constraint • When I started these series of works on paper in 2023, I went in with tenacity of mark. I asked of myself something specific, as an addendum and foundation to the paintings, to think about restraint. I don’t think of restraint as withholding in this sense, but more specifically, challenging myself to not add color. The movements sit comfortably next to the color charged paintings, welcoming a wondering eye. Then, I said, “well, now, bigger.” The musicality of the lines, the requirement of my mind and body, the immediacy and slowness of the shadows and washes of graphite and charcoal. Tools of restraint. Sometimes you see what more you can do with you give yourself some parameters, though ultimately I prefer to defy them. On view @patrongallery until 10/31. 1. NOW ON VIEW| LINDSAY ADAMS : Errantry EXTENDED HOURS Thursday, September 17 11am-8pm Throughout Errantry, Adams constructs paintings that refuse to settle into a singular reading. Her works move through abstraction as one might move through an unfamiliar landscape without a map, but with an attentiveness to what emerges along the way. Her paintings evidence a commitment to openness and emphasize wayfinding over arrival. Errantry is on view through October 31, 2026 @lindsaybriadams by @lindsaybriadams

| Lamp Black • My use of lamp black and black ground has been a dynamic traversing between formal and conceptual queries. I did it first in 2024 as a mode of disruption, to challenge how I was building a painting. Light and life out of darkness, blooms from black soil. What is visible, what is legible? Where can I ( we ) be, most freely. Errantry, a place to wonder and wander. In the studio, I turn inward, to my own words and my own heart, and look back and beside me at those who share in this adventure. My work embodies many things. Visibility and belonging are realities I cannot forget. Liminal space of possibility, grounding, and constant flight. Ultimately it an ever becoming. My being has and will always be a counter. A born disruptor. Toni Morrison penned something quite beautiful in “Playing in the Dark,” in the chapter “Black Matters.” It reminds me of a similar quest in this studio, of wonder. “I am interested in what prompts and makes possible this process of entering what one is estranged from—and in what disables the foray, for purposes of fiction, into corners of the consciousness held off and away from the reach of the writer’s imaginątion. My work requires me to think about how free I can be as an African-American woman writer in my gen-derized, sexualized, wholly racialized world. To think about (and wrestle with) the full implications of my situation leads me to consider what happens when other writers work in a highly and historically racialized society. For them, as for me, imagining is not merely looking or looking at; nor is it taking oneself intact into the other. It is, for the purposes of the (work, becoming. My project rises from delight, not disappointment.” #lampblack #color #lindsayadams #errantry #soil The wonder continues.
