She started daycare at 4 months old. Here's what I've seen since 👇

1. Take the time to find the right school. Everything else on this list depends on that choice. The right environment is what made the rest possible for us.
2. School is just her normal. She's been going for so long that drop-off doesn't come with tears.
3. She's come out of her shell. She went from really quiet and shy to bolder, more talkative, and more social.
4. Less screen time. When she's home while I'm trying to work, she ends up with more screen time than I'd like just so I can get things done. At school, she's busy learning and playing.
5. Structure and routines. She's learning to follow a schedule and follow rules. That's possible at home too, but it's hard to stay consistent when you're working, running a business, volunteering, or just keeping the house going.
6. Our time together means more. Weekends and holidays feel even more valuable now. That's when we slow down and make our memories as a family.

Did daycare work for your family, or did you go a different route?

My version of work-life balance 😂
15 minutes locked in = 5 minutes of scrolling. Seems fair to me.

Apparently the meetings are the work now 😂

How many meetings does it take before the actual work gets done?

Proofreading? I'll do it after lunch. 🙃
The 9–5 has its moments, which is exactly why I'm building something of my own too. Who else has hit send a little too fast? 👇🏾

Dallas girl, Dallas team. 💙🤍

Overtime loss to the Cardinals still hurts, but we'll get them next time. Who else was yelling at the TV (or the field) yesterday? 👇🏾

How 'bout them Cowboys! ⭐

I asked my mom if there were ways of showing love or concern that were normal in her generation but might be seen differently today. 🤎

So much of how our mothers loved us wasn't said, it was shown.

How did your mom show love without saying it? 👇

7 things I did in my 20s that quietly held me back at work

Nobody told me these outright — I just kept getting passed over and had to figure out why.

1. Saying "sorry" before giving an opinion — undercutting your own point before anyone even heard it
2. Waiting to be asked instead of just owning it — staying in "support" mode past the point where you could've led
3. Explaining the problem longer than the solution — sounding like you're reporting instead of deciding
4. Taking the back seat in meetings — literally and in who talks first
5. Updating people only when asked — instead of getting ahead of it
6. Saying "I think" when you mean "I know" — hedging things you were actually sure about
7. Doing the work quietly and assuming it'd get noticed — instead of saying it out loud

Which one hits close to home? Tell me below 👇

Corporate gave me more than a paycheck. It gave me skills I now use to build something that's mine. If you're a working mom wondering where to start, look at what you already do well every day. 🤍 What's one skill from your 9–5 you could build on? 👇🏾

Unemployment for Black Americans jumped from 6% to 7% in September, the highest of any group (BLS).

Layoffs are happening across industries. Don't wait until it's your job to start building something outside your 9–5.

Are you building something on the side yet? 👇🏾

Her first swim class this weekend, library activities, dance drop-off, then cheering from the sideline at soccer. The weekdays belong to the 9–5. Weekends belong to them. 🤍

What did your weekend look like? 👇🏾

I asked my mom how becoming a mother changed the way she understood her own mother. 🤎

Some things only make sense once you're the mom.
