Hi everyone,

As I move forward into a new chapter with The National Basketball Academy, I want to intentionally close my time as the head coach of the University girls basketball program.

The past 2 ½ years gave me the opportunity to coach some incredible athletes and build relationships I will always carry with me. For that, I’m truly grateful.

Thank you to everyone who supported me and the program along the way — it meant more than you know.

Not every chapter ends the way we expect — but I’m proud of the impact, the growth, and the connections that came from this experience.

To my seniors — I’m forever proud of you. To the rest of my girls — keep showing up and putting in the work. I’m always in your corner.

On to what’s next!

We had such a great time on Saturday working with the @uhsofindiana Girls Basketball Team in our Leadership & Team-building Course. The girls stepped outside their comfor zone & took on the challenge of learning the art of Muay Thai while making connections to how the skills of confidence, trust & perseverance not only apply to Muay Thai but to their team! They even faced their fears & put their newly learned skills to the test in some friendly sparring! Did you know that 1 in 7 children will experience the death of a parent, sibling, or close loved one by the time they are 20?

At three years old I first experienced the death of a loved one. By age 7 I had lost two of the most important men in my life to death.

I never really knew how it had affected me until I needed an elective at Butler University and choose a course that was hands on and required less time than a full semester course.

I choose to attend a Brooke’s Place workshop.

I had no idea that this workshop would speak directly to me, to little Lisa who had not known what grief was.

Almost 20 years later, I still facilitate and also sit on the Brooke’s Place Board so that I can support the mission and vision of Brooke’s Place as we walk with others through their grief.

Our Annual Legacy is Hope Breakfast is coming up on November 16th. This is our biggest friendraiser/fundraiser and we can use all the support we can get.

We believe no child should grieve alone and your support would help us expand the 27,000+ families and growing that have been loved by Brooke’s Place through the death of their loved one.

Today, September 6th, is a special day for us. Here is how Annie describes it. ⁣

“4 years ago, I freaked out. I left something amazing because I didn’t believe I deserved it. 3 years ago, on this day, I lost my mind, and hit my ultimate low. And today, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. Right where I belong.”🥰⁣
⁣
In the movie Rocky Balboa there is a line that has always struck me. Rocky says, “Life will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently, if you let it… It’s not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.”⁣
⁣
Annie and I have been hit with some serious blows in our relationship and marriage. I am so incredibly proud of her for committing to sobriety. I am so incredibly proud of me for living my value of forgiveness. And, so damn proud of us for choosing the most difficult option, the road least taken, and walking hand in hand as we create our own way. ⁣#winning

This is Brittney Griner. She had been detained in Russia since February. Her sentence of 9 years for having less than 1 gram of hashish in a cartridge was just upheld in Russian court. ⁣⁣

BG represents the United States on the global scale. She has won multiple gold medals for the USA. She is a basketball icon and a pawn in a horrible game of the evils of this world. ⁣⁣

My heart aches for BG, her wife, and her family and friends. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I can’t imagine. We are with you. 🙏🏾💙🙏🏾⁣

This is my great Aunt Donna. She is 93 1/2 years old. Due to COVID, I haven’t seen her since December 25, 2019.

I saw her today. I cried and cried some more.
I hugged her and hugged her some more. Happy tears. Gratitude hugs.
