#TogetherTodayStrongerTomorrow

We use this title sometimes on our internal documents. And every time I visit one of our partner villages, I am reminded of why! :)

These photos were taken in a little village called Lonthru, in Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand. I was there last June, to meet the group and also to see the rajma sowing process.

All of us went to the fields early in the morning. The women were ready with their rajma and the @trishulii and Himmotthan team began with a training session on how to sow the seeds in a way that there was minimum wastage and maximum output.

The sowing began, and a little while later I saw some of the ladies come to the trainer with two ladies who were not part of their group. Turns out, they happened to be from the same village but not formally part of this group.

The ladies wanted the trainer to explain the entire process to their friends, so they could benefit as well! And one of them turned to me and said - Our friends are unable to join our group right now. But at least this way, they will also learn a better way of sowing and increase their yield. And maybe join us in the future. And even if they can’t, it will be good because they will have better yield, they will sell more rajma, and more people in the cities will be able to consume our pahadi rajma! :)

It’s such a small incident but it really stayed with me and still makes me smile! 🙂

It’s been 3 months since we began working with Hameri, and we’ve nearly wrapped up Phase 1 of our partnership! It’s a special one for @little.local as it’s our first partnership that addresses community livelihood and wildlife conservation! 👩🏻‍🌾
