AHH IM SO EXCITED TO PLAY THE REMAKE!!! Like so many people, Ocarina of Time means so much to me. But Ocarina of Time actually taught me a very important skill; transcribing music. I didn't even know what that word meant, but I started listening to the songs and writing down what I heard. And all these years later, I'm still transcribing music 🥹

Fun fact, I dreamt this song and as soon as I woke up I wrote it down 😴

If you do any of these, congratulations! You aren't alone:

1) Not listening to my body when performing: When I was playing in orchestras, I was often in so much pain after concerts that I had to take Tylenol just to feel some relief. If I kept going like that, I was going to injure myself.
2) Staying on the path my professors wanted for me, not one that I wanted for me: I was always a performer first, and when you study classical music, typically your professors will guide you towards orchestral playing. By the time I got to grad school, I was already sick of the long hours and little to no pay for the amount of work involved. I had to switch to something I enjoyed that I had more control over, or I would have quit music entirely.
3) Being afraid of being misunderstood: in grad school, I began learning electric violin and it opened so many doors for me. I started composing music again, I got to premiere one of my compositions at a chamber music festival, and I met some amazing people in the electric strings community. Making sure I make time for the things I enjoy rather than listening to my professors who don’t understand electric strings was a game changer for me. The best paying gig I’ve had to this day was because someone needed an electric violinist!
