Soft milk bread, creamy egg salad, crusts trimmed off. This is the tamago sando, and my kids ask for it every week. 🥪

The secret is in the yolks. You press them through a fine strainer so the filling turns silky smooth. Then the whites get chopped by hand for a little bite. Kewpie mayo, a splash of milk and a pinch of sugar give it that sweet, rich taste you find in every konbini in Tokyo. #tamagosando #eggsandwich #kewpiemayo #japanesefood #lunchboxideas by @littlenomadsrecipes

Today we travel to Poland 🇵🇱

I’ve always loved dill, but I never had many recipes that use a whole fresh bunch. Then this summer in Poland, I fell for these: pulpety, soft Polish meatballs in a creamy dill sauce. 🌿

The secret? You never brown them. The meatballs simmer gently in broth until they’re ultra soft and tender, and that same broth becomes the sauce. 🙌

✨ Pork and beef, with a hidden shredded carrot
✨ Rolled slightly smaller than regular meatballs
✨ Creamy dill sauce made from the cooking broth
✨ Make-ahead, freezer-friendly and easy to make gluten-free

Picky eater tip: serve the kids first, then stir in the dill for the grown-ups. No green bits, no drama. 😅

Don’t toss those pumpkin carvings! 🎃

Halloween is the one night a year when sugar wins around here, so I stopped fighting it and made it a double treat: fudgy dark chocolate brownies swirled with a creamy, spiced pumpkin cheesecake, made with the pumpkin left over from carving. 🍫

Toasted cashews add crunch, and my little secret, a pinch of turmeric, makes the swirl extra orange with no food colouring at all. 🧡

The kids’ job? The swirl. Just a few strokes, or it disappears into the brownie. (Ask me how I know. 😅)

This potion changes colour when you add the magic ingredient 🧪✨

Meet our Chicha Morada Witch’s Brew, a Halloween twist on Peru’s famous purple corn drink. I lived in Peru for two years, and chicha morada was on every table, so of course it had to show up at our Halloween party.

Purple corn simmers with cinnamon, cloves and a mandarin until it turns deep, dark purple. Then the kids squeeze in the lime and watch it brighten to ruby right before their eyes. 🔮 Add blackberry “brains” and blueberry eyeball ice cubes, and you’ve got the spookiest drink on the table. 👁️🧠

The best part? No artificial colours, and the sugar is totally up to you. Even none at all.

Today we travel to Australia 🇦🇺 for one of the country's most loved afternoon tea classics: pumpkin scones!

Soft, golden and fluffy, these Australian pumpkin scones are plain and simple, with no spices and no icing. Just fresh mashed pumpkin and the famous Lady Flo method, creaming the butter and sugar first for the lightest crumb. 🎃

The kids loved mashing the pumpkin and cutting out the rounds, and they disappeared warm from the tray. It's also a delicious way to use up leftover Halloween pumpkin!

So how do Australians eat them? Traditionally split warm and spread with butter 🧈, or café style with jam first, then whipped cream 🍓

Team butter or team jam and cream? Tell me below! 👇

Today we travel to Poland! 🇵🇱 I visited this summer and came back with a few goodies to bring home to Little Nomads, this simple beet and apple salad is one of them. Buraczki z jabłkiem is a classic Polish Christmas table side, naturally sweet, earthy, and easy to make ahead.

Crispy on the outside, herby and fluffy inside 🌿 This falafel is made the real way, dried chickpeas, a heavy hand with fresh herbs, and a chill step you genuinely can't skip (learned that one the hard way). Pan-fried or air fryer, your call. Full recipe on the blog, link in bio. #falafel #kidfriendlyfood by @littlenomadsrecipes

Crispy on the bottom, juicy in the middle 🥟 These pan-fried jiaozi are a full kid job, start to finish, thanks to a dumpling press that makes folding fast and mess-free. No steamer, no boiling pot, just a pan and a lid. The recipe's live on the blog; link in bio. #jiaozi #potstickers #kidfood by @littlenomadsrecipes

Lime and black pepper make a great pair. 🥑

This started as a regular BLT, and then two things happened. The smoked bacon became peppered pancetta, which is saltier and less sweet, so it no longer crowds out everything else on the bread. And the mayo got lime zest and juice folded through it. Suddenly the whole sandwich tastes brighter.

Slice the avocado right in its shell, then squeeze in lime and a pinch of salt. No bowl, no mashing, nothing extra to wash.

Fifteen minutes, and it packs beautifully for a lunchbox.

Meet your new favourite summer soup 🍉 This watermelon gazpacho is a fresh, gluten-free twist on classic Spanish gazpacho, made with roughly half tomato and half watermelon for the perfect balance of savoury and sweet.

No bread needed; ripe tomatoes and juicy watermelon give it a naturally smooth texture on their own. And here's the fun part: even picky kids tend to love this version more than regular gazpacho.

This one's got a story too. Every summer, my friend in Spain shows up to our camping trip with a big batch, and it disappears within minutes. It's become our unofficial start-of-summer tradition.

Serve it chilled in a bowl, or sipped from a glass the way you'll often find it in restaurants across Spain.

The secret sauce every burger needs 👀 This Danish remoulade sauce has a fun backstory: it's got a French name, but barely any of the original French flavour left, and its signature golden colour comes from curry powder, a spice blend that travelled from India through Britain before landing in a Danish kitchen. Talk about merged cuisines at their best.

Creamy, tangy, and just slightly sweet, with mayo and Greek yogurt keeping it light, and chopped pickles and capers giving it that briny crunch. Don't worry, the curry here is mild, just a warm hint in the background, nothing spicy.

Perfect on burgers, hot dogs, or straight up dunked with fries. #burgersandfries #secretsauce by @littlenomadsrecipes

Today we're travelling through taste in North America 🇺🇸 These cinnamon-simmered BBQ ribs are the kind of recipe that turns a regular family dinner into an event.

The trick my sister passed down to me? Simmer the ribs low and slow in cinnamon-scented water first. It sounds unexpected, but that warm, subtle spice quietly tenderizes the meat and fills the whole house with the coziest aroma, all before the real moment: a good broil, slathered in our homemade smoky maple BBQ sauce, until caramelized, sticky, and impossible to resist.

Baby back ribs for a leaner, kid-friendly bite, or St. Louis style for a little more richness. Either way, it's finger-licking, mess-making, happy kid-approved. 🍖 #ribs #bbqseason by @littlenomadsrecipes
