Every pair of shoes tells a story. Some belong to people still fighting. Others belong to those heartbreakingly no longer with us.

Yesterday, the Great Hall at Parliament House was filled with shoes, stories and a powerful call for change at Head to the Hill 2026.

Patients, families, carers, researchers, clinicians and advocates came together with one shared purpose: to improve outcomes for people affected by brain cancer.

Together, the brain cancer community called on the Australian Government to prioritise a national research and clinical trials roadmap, equitable access to specialist support and trials, and sustainable funding for advocacy.

We were proud to have RCD Foundation’s Head of Research, Dr Kim Wark, among the speakers, lending her voice to this important national conversation.

Thank you to Brain Tumour Alliance Australia (BTAA), the Australian Brain Tumour Collaborative and every advocate who shared their story, honoured a loved one or helped bring these important conversations to Parliament. by @lizdawes

The @rcdfoundation are heading towards 2 million raised this year alone, that is put towards finding a cure, and also just making moments better, for families dealing with juvenile brain cancer. They have built a community of people going thru the most stressful of circumstances and leaning on each other for support to endure it. I haven’t had a proper run like this since my injury in the Legends Game last year. The vibe was fantastic as always. by @lizdawes

Malcolm Twinning, an amazing human that gave so much to so many-with a big smile, great attitude and huge heart. It was wonderful watching him adore my good friend @sellj and see them both truly happy together. He embraced @rcdfoundation and became one of our most loyal supporters. He loved our merchandise and wore it well! I coined him our official RCD sock Ambassador. He only, and I mean only, wore our socks. For 6 years he bravely endured the worst cancer dishes out and far outlived what doctors predicted. Last week he reached out and asked to join our Aeternum Fortis Society, our annual giving donor group (open to all btw ☺️) and transferred $1000. I told him he would be a forever member of AFS. This was classic Malcolm thinking and taking action to help others. Gosh I’ll miss him but I know firsthand that his awesome spirit will shine on in miraculous ways. Thinking of Jenny, his daughters, his friends. A beautiful man, taken too soon. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ by @lizdawes

A fantastic day at the National Imaging Facility (NIF) Scientific Symposium.

Our CEO, Liz Dawes, and Head of Research, Dr Kim Wark, were proud to represent the RCD Foundation, with Kim doing a brilliant job presenting.

It was also great to catch up with Kirralee and Mark Hughes, valued long-term partners and collaborators from the @markhughesfoundation who continue to make such a meaningful impact for the brain cancer community. by @lizdawes

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our Founder & CEO, Liz Dawes OAM, who has been honoured with the Community Service Achievement Award at #ISPNO2026 in Sydney.

Presented in recognition of her outstanding support and unwavering commitment to the paediatric neuro-oncology community, this award celebrates more than a decade of advocacy, leadership and dedication to improving outcomes for children with brain cancer through research, care and development.

The award was especially meaningful as Liz was introduced by Professor Jordan Hansford, a long-time friend and collaborator of the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation, whose work and partnership have helped advance our shared mission of changing the odds for children with brain cancer.

Our Founder & CEO, Liz Dawes OAM, was also deeply honoured by the words of Professor Nick Gottardo, who summed up the sentiment of so many in the room:

"So very well deserved, Liz. You are helping transform the field."

What began in memory of Connor has grown into a global mission, supporting world-leading research, investing in the next generation of researchers, advocating for better outcomes, and providing vital programs that help children and families navigate the challenges of brain cancer.

This recognition belongs not only to Liz, but also to the incredible community of researchers, clinicians, supporters, volunteers, families and partners who share our vision of changing the odds for children with brain cancer.

Congratulations, Liz, on this well-deserved honour. Thank you for your unwavering leadership, compassion and determination to create a better future for every child diagnosed with a brain tumour. 💛

Today, we join so many Australians in remembering Richard Scolyer.

Professor Scolyer’s courage, generosity and determination inspired countless people, both within and beyond the cancer community. His willingness to share his journey so openly brought hope, understanding and important conversations about cancer research to the forefront.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues and all those whose lives he touched.
