Reading The Hunger Games for the first time since I was 16 & I just know that Cinna & Law Roach would be best friends 🥲📖🕯️

These cozy, scroll free mornings reading at the table have been so good for my brain, but the downside is I never want to put my books down 🙄 so if someone wants to pay me to read all day, my dms are open 💕

every book I read in October ranked from least favorite to favorite 📖🍂🕯️

Sorry in advance for any hurt feelings bc i know my *least favorites* are very beloved books. I think it’s just another example of my taste having changed in the last year or so. Although, i did have a fantasy as my second favorite of the month, which was a pleasant surprise!

It feels like i blinked and October came & went, so it’s surreal to see that i did in fact read quite a few books this month. Now I’m really looking forward to my November reading bc i am starting my Hunger Games reread before Sunrise on the Reaping releases 🥲

Let me know your favorite reads from October & what you’re looking forward to reading in November!

A little birdy told me that cozy, bookish afternoons spent reading & sipping tea are a great way to ward off the winter blues 📖🫖🕯️

I finally started Piranesi by Susanna Clarke yesterday & it’s not at all what I expected, but I’m eating up every single word. People aren’t kidding when they call it a fever dream, but I’m already formulating lots of theories about what’s going on 🧐

I hope you enjoyed your extra hour of sleep this morning & that you have yourself a cozy little Sunday 💕

Some books you read, and others you live in 🖤
I’ve been pairing my favorite fall reads with The Twilight Saga: New Moon x Scentbird Eau de Parfum from @scentbird, and I’ve never felt more cozy & nostalgic. Subscribe through the link in Scentbird’s bio for your first month free.

Physically I’m sitting in a cafe sipping matcha & reading my book, mentally I’m in New Haven, CT solving supernatural crimes 📖🍵🦢

Took myself on a little date this morning to finally finish Ninth House, and to everyone who told me to push through the confusion and get to the end I would like to say thank you AND pls feel free to pay for the therapy bill 🫣 this book isn’t for the faint of heart (especially if you struggle with graphic & gory content), but the atmosphere was unbeatable and the characters won me over by the end (where can I find my own Dawes?) 🖤

With that said, I’m ready for something a little lighter now and am eyeing Hollywood, Ending by John Green, Heap Earth Upon It by Chloe Michelle Howarth, and Bad Words by Ríoghnach Robinson. Or maybe a book I can just binge in a day 📖

Hope the week has been kind to you! Happy reading 💕

The 5 books I credit with getting me back into litfic & genre fiction after years of primarily reading fantasy 📖✨

(aka, 5 books I’d recommend to YOU, if you wanted to explore more of the genre yourself).

Since Fable says that litfic is my most read genre by a landslide this year, I decided to go back through my reading history to see when my taste started to shift. What I found was that the books that pulled me back to the genre were ones that had imperfect & messy characters, beautiful prose, nostalgic settings, love stories with a side of heartbreak, complicated family dynamics, & hints of mystery. These are also the books I’ve gifted the most to friends and family this year 🤭

Lmk if you’ve read any of these or have any recs of your own based off of these!

Books mentioned:
✨Notes on Your Sudden Disappearance - Alison Espach
✨The God of the Woods - Liz Moore
✨The Paper Palace - Miranda Cowley Heller
✨Broken Country - Clare Leslie Hall
✨Weyward - Emilia Hart

bookish bits of october, as seen through my camera lens 📖🕯️🌙

Currently having the laziest little Sunday afternoon after a quick weekend visit with an old friend. We spent a crisp fall day walking around town, meandering our favorite local bookshop, making chocolate chip pumpkin muffins, & sipping many cups of tea. Now I’m back home, curled up on the couch with a cup of earl grey, ready to tuck back into Ninth House. I’m still confused by a lot of the plot, but I’m captivated by the setting and the atmosphere so I plan to stick with it for now 📖

Hope you’re having a restful weekend, lmk what you’re reading right now 🦢

How can anyone be expected to focus on reading when the light is in the throes of a passionate love affair with their home ✨

Stumbled across some of my favorite bookish photos from last fall & winter. I always dread the days getting shorter & shorter this time of year, but if there’s one silver lining it’s the way the little light we do get casts itself across my home 🥲

Little reading update; I finished The Everlasting over the weekend and loved it. Possibly my first 5🌟 fantasy of the year. Now I’m about 200 pages into Ninth House and completely & utterly lost 😬 idk, it could be a dnf for me if something doesn’t shift soon 🫣

Hope you’re having a lovely week 💕

After a long week of procrastination, I finally got around to reshelving and decorating my tbr credenza (aka my tbr shelf) 📖🕯️🦢

Unfortunately I severely underestimated how many unread books I currently own, so I pulled out my priority reads for fall & winter to put on the shelf, and I’ll have to find another home for the rest of them 🙃 but I’m happy with how this turned out ☺️

If you see any of your favs here lmk!

Bookish bits of fall (so far) 📖🕯️🍂

happy Sunday my bookish friends. It’s currently 60 degrees & raining here, which means I’ll be curled up on the couch with my book & my tea for the rest of the day 🌧️

So far this month I’ve read Spells for Forgetting (the most perfect, atmospheric fall read that I can’t recommend enough) and Blood Over Bright Haven — my feelings on which are mixed. On one hand I think it’s an important, powerful story with very unique magic, but it was also so heavy handed in its message that it distracted me from being able to lose myself in the story. I needed the author to trust us a little more to follow where the actions & repercussions of Sciona were taking us, rather than spelling it out for us word by word for paragraphs at a time. Especially bc I do think the message was a good one.

Now I’m reading The Everlasting by Alix E Harrow, and the writing is just as stunning as everyone has proclaimed, but it’s been a little slow to start 🫣 fingers crossed it picks up soon, but either way it’s been fun to dive back into fantasy ✨

I hope you’re having a restful weekend and lmk what you’re reading rn 💕

5 atmospheric books I’d add to your fall tbr if you want something to savor the ambiance of the season, but don’t enjoy stories that are scary or gruesome 📖🕯️🍂

I think we can all agree that fall is one of the best seasons for reading, and while some of us like to grab for spooky, scary books, I personally prefer books that capture the atmosphere and ambiance of the season, but don’t keep me up all night in fear🫣 I reach for books that conjure up the smells of wet leaves, crackling fires, and hot cups of coffee, books with moody, gloomy settings, books that feel a bit witchy, and, of course, a little bit of dark academia.

If that’s also your vibe for autumn reading, then these are a few books I think will be perfect for your fall tbr 🍂

books mentioned:
✨Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young
✨If We Were Villains by ML Rio
✨We Hexed the Moon by Mollyhall Seeley
✨Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy
✨Weyward by Emilia Hart

Started the most perfect, atmospheric fall read on the most perfect, atmospheric (rainy) fall morning 🕯️🌧️🍂

Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young has me mesmerized by its moody setting, witchy undertones, & mysterious plot. I want to physically climb inside of this book and make a home in this mystical, magical town ✨🌙

If anyone needs me, I’ll be glued to my couch all day long with this one. To be fair, what else is a book lover to do on a stormy, autumn morning 🕯️
