Dia de los muertos 💀🌺🇲🇽

Is it just me, or does London have a habit of giving us a little taste of the world when we're least expecting it?

Last weekend, Columbia Road got a serious makeover as Día de los Muertos brought a fiesta of flowers, fabulous skeleton faces, music and Mexican magic to the streets.

And naturally, I couldn't resist getting my camera right in the middle of it all!

For those unfamiliar with the tradition, Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican celebration honouring loved ones who have passed. Think marigolds, beautifully decorated skulls, colourful altars, music and memories that refuse to fade.

Now, I have to confess something. This was my little rehearsal.

Because one day, hopefully, I'll be trading London's streets for Mexico itself, experiencing the real celebration, camera in hand, surrounded by the incredible colours, traditions and energy of this extraordinary festival.

So, Mexico, consider this my application. I'm ready. Just save me a front-row seat! 😉

Until then, here's a little taste of Mexican magic, captured through my lens in London.

Dead Gorgeous

I went to Columbia Road for Día de los Muertos and somehow ended up having my own main-character moment. 💀🌺

There is something rather wonderful about a celebration where death gets dressed up in flowers, colour and a little bit of glamour.

Día de los Muertos, Mexico's Day of the Dead, is much more than a Halloween spectacle. It's a beautiful tradition of remembering and celebrating those who have passed, welcoming their spirits back through family altars, photographs, food, candles and flowers.

And those magnificent skull faces? Known as calaveras, they are a reminder that death is part of life. The iconic La Catrina, with her elegant skeleton face and extravagant hat, became one of the most recognisable symbols of the celebration.

Then there are the marigolds, or cempasúchil. Their golden petals and beautiful fragrance are traditionally believed to guide the spirits home. 🌼

Naturally, I couldn't resist joining in. I created my own look, complete with skull makeup and a floral headdress. And I must say, walking through Columbia Road, I felt less like a photographer documenting the festivities and more like a celebrity who had accidentally arrived at her own premiere. The attention was rather fabulous!

I left with one thought: how #awesome would it be to experience this celebration in Mexico?

Next year, perhaps? A girl can dream. And this girl is bringing her camera. 🇲🇽❤️

Who Needs a Halloween Plan When Fate Has Your Guest List?

Isn't it funny how one Halloween night can turn into a story worth telling? 💀🥂

Bee Brendy and I had one mission: dress to impress and head to Columbia Road. I was serving Día de los Muertos, complete with a dramatic headpiece made by yours truly. Because why buy one when you can create your own little masterpiece?

But somewhere between the cobbled streets and the Halloween excitement, we crossed paths with the lovely organiser of @vividpeopleparty, who invited us to The Steel Yard.

Now, was it Halloween magic, a lucky encounter or simply the universe deciding we weren't quite ready to go home? Whatever it was, we found ourselves at one of the best Halloween parties in town!

The costumes, the energy, the fabulous people… and naturally, I couldn't resist capturing a little of the action behind the scenes.

A few moments from a night full of surprises, captured by Lizovaphotography for Cine Couture Magazine.

Because sometimes the best stories begin with a costume, a cocktail and absolutely no idea where the night will take you. 💋

“Darling, you promised to kill me before our next wedding.”

In the old kingdom, mothers frightened their daughters with stories of the vampire bride who lived beyond the black forest. They said Anna-Maria lured men to her castle, drank their blood and kept their wedding rings in a silver bowl beside her bed. 🩸

For 300 years, Simone hunted Anna-Maria. But some love stories refuse to stay buried… and some brides have a very long memory. 🖤

Would you marry her, kill her, or run away with her? 🦇

✨ THE GOLDEN FAE: A SPELL

Once upon a Halloween night, when moonbeams shimmered and fairy dust filled the air, a golden enchantment slipped into our world…

They called her the Golden Fae. ✨

Draped in a golden gown by Lina Denkova, with delicate wings aglow beneath twinkling fairy lights, Suki looked as though she'd wandered straight out of a forgotten fairytale.

Golden wings that catch the light,
A sprinkle of magic in the night.
One whispered wish, one silver gleam,
And suddenly, you're lost inside a dream.

Was she ever really there? Or had Halloween gifted us a glimpse into a world where dreams come alive and magic never truly dies?

✨ Fae and a little sparkle. 🧚‍♀️🌙

🎃 POV: YOU’RE THE LAST GIRL ALIVE IN A HORROR MOVIE.

Mirror, mirror… who’s the monster now?

Some beauty rituals should never be done after midnight.

Jessica Maria. A Halloween night that’s about to take a VERY dark turn. 🪞🩸

She came to check her reflection.

Something else came to check on her. 👁️

Tell me this isn’t the opening scene of a horror movie you’d watch with your eyes half-covered and the lights FULLY ON.

🎃 SWIPE THROUGH IF YOU DARE.

Would you look in that mirror after midnight? YES or ABSOLUTELY NOT? 👇

Not every girl wants to be saved. Some want to be feared.

Every girl wants to BE her.

CATWOMAN COUTURE.

Alexandrina Covbasa didn't come to play nice.

Custom couture by @lina_denkova . Killer attitude. Zero apologies.

The kind of energy that makes you want to reinvent your entire wardrobe.

Wicked looks good on her. And we have absolutely no notes. 💋
