Story time (1/2): #flashbackfriday (swipe to the last slide) Reality check: Getting to this moment may seem sweet and as if it was a no brainer to transition into but the last video showed me otherwise. The last video of this slide shows the moment I was catapulted into an extreme detour and was faced with some obstacles that I would have never imagined, as I thought that making this decision was about to be an effortless transition. WROOOONG!!!🙄🥹 That video is from 2021 after Hurricane Ida! If you’ve been with me you know I planned to start my journey as a shop owner way back when, but unfortunately lost my building to hurricane damage and a series of poor business management, and misleading communication on the owners end. Like failure of having the building properly insured, failure to return my deposit and giving me the run around on getting the building repaired in a timely manner, oh and also stealing over $2,000 worth of flooring from me that I had purchased to renovate that shop at the time. Needless to say, a lot of time and investment was lost which caused me great doubt to the point I convinced myself that perhaps becoming a shop owner wasn’t meant to be apart of my career journey and so I decided to step back from doing hair and continuing to build up my brand but in reality I was grieving, in my own way, by redirecting my focus. Which led me to the decision of becoming a School Teacher(and chile that’s a story for another time😅) which is crazy because I originally planned to become a school teacher upon graduating college and gave up pursuing teaching to focus on being a full time cosmetologist and business owner instead. Ultimately, now I am doing both!!! Which suits me because I’m a stickler for both education aaaand entrepreneurship!… Anyways fast forward to April 2025, after slowly getting back my passion to re-pursue my business and wanting to get back to doing hair more than not, everything quickly began to pick up again, I quietly decided to move forward with opening my own salon and acquiring my building without telling a soul, because I meeean u see how last time went!… (part 2 in the comments) by @looksby_larri

✨ “From homecoming courts to leadership roles, every title told a story of spirit, passion , and Hurricane pride… More than accolades… these moments were stepping stones towards purpose and perseverance.”✨ To the student who asked me “Ms. Lewis, who were you in highschool?” Hope this answers your question!😅🫶🏽 by @looksby_larri
