POSTS STORIES REELS
Located in Bloomington, Indiana’s historic Vinegar Hill neighborhood, this early 20th-century home was transformed through a thoughtful historic home remodel.  The history was still visible in the home’s details, including an original hand-carved limestone fireplace, but decades of updates had left some spaces struggling to function properly. The kitchen, dating back to the 1970s or ’80s, had lost much of the practicality and character that made the home special. The bathroom was cramped and awkwardly arranged. Our work reimagined and expanded the kitchen and upstairs bathroom. The result is a much more expressive, personal interior where historic details sit alongside bold colors, Art Deco-inspired motifs, hand-painted murals, restored woodwork, and modern functionality. It still carries the craftsmanship and character of an early 20th-century home, but it also  reflects the person living there today. For this client, that meant creating a home that could be both historic and highly personal, a place where preservation, creativity, craftsmanship, and a little bit of whimsy can all coexist. 🔶View the full portfolio & project article: (link in profile) 📸@nolancalischphoto #historichomeremodel #designbuild #artdecostyle #lorenwoodbuilders #custombuilder by @lorenwoodbuilders
Originally built in the late 1970s by the client’s grandfather, this multigenerational colonial home carried decades of history within its walls. The goal of this full renovation was not to replace that history, but to carefully preserve it while transforming the home for a new era of living. Art Deco influences appear throughout in lighting, hardware, and detailing, but are interpreted in a modern and highly customized way. Bold color choices further distinguish each space, especially in shared sightlines like the entry, parlor, and dining room, where palettes needed to work in conversation with one another. Every detail was designed specifically for this home and how the family lives within it. The home doesn’t follow a single style, but instead reflects a deeply personal design process and vision shaped by how the family wanted to live in each space. 🔸View the full portfolio & project article: (link in the profile) 📸 @nolancalischphoto . . . . . . #customremodel #designbuild #colonialarchitecture #colonialremodel #moderncolonial by @lorenwoodbuilders
This remodel in Indianapolis’ Meridian Park neighborhood focused on restoring cohesion to a 1920s Craftsman home while thoughtfully adapting it for a growing family. The scope included a full renovation of the kitchen, solarium, dining room, powder room, and mudroom, each space reimagined to improve function while preserving architectural integrity. Existing finishes were carefully matched, original doors and hardware were reused wherever possible, and past alterations were thoughtfully corrected. Today, these spaces support the rhythms of daily life, filled with cooking, gathering, and quiet moments. This project reflects a thoughtful approach to historic renovation: honoring early 1900s Craftsman architecture while supporting modern living. Its success lies not only in the craftsmanship but in the seamless integration of past and present. When the homeowners of this Bloomington, Indiana, residence decided it was time to update the second floor, they wanted more than a fresh look. After more than 25 years in the home, they were ready to make the space their own. The project involved a near-gut renovation, including selective wall reconfiguration, new windows, a vaulted primary bedroom ceiling, custom cabinetry, and highly detailed finishes throughout.
Working closely with the homeowners, the designer, @connercrawfordinteriordesign drew inspiration from the homeowners’ favorite travel destinations. The transitional design pairs traditional architectural features and natural materials with contemporary styling, including marble, ceramic tile, wool carpet, and brass accents. We really enjoyed working with @connercrawfordinteriordesign on phase two of this full home remodel. Progress on our design phase for a new project on Lake Lemon. Phase one centers on water mitigation on and around the home. We’re introducing board-formed concrete retaining walls that will frame the entry, protect the home from stormwater, and anchor the transition from the upper driveway down to the front entrance. A complete exterior finish update will also be included in this first phase. This will include a standing seam roof with matching gutters & downspouts to replace the original rubber roof. The addition of wood accents around the entry, updated exterior paint, and fresh composite deck boards will bring this 1950’s gem back to life. With these renderings, we are able to provide our clients with a visual road map and clear look on how these selections will coalesce before construction. In this classic log cabin design build remodel we added a second-story addition on the back of the house, an office, an updated primary bathroom, a large exterior wrap-around deck, and additional storage. We also transformed the original porch into a bright dining room. The charm of the log cabin construction was maintained while growing the usable space and functionality of the home.  Check out all the project photos and story by following the link in our profile 👆 #lorenwoodbuilders #designbuild #customhomes #logcabin #historichome by @lorenwoodbuilders
