🎭 #RodrigoGarull #placidodomingo #ChristofLoy ImmigrantsWeGetTheJobDone by @lospaladineszc

Are you familiar with Zarzuela? Don’t worry, very few people know this early form of Spanish musical theatre. Star director Christof Loy, however, is a keen enthusiast and is coming to Berlin with his company ‘Los Paladines’ to introduce us to this atmospheric 17th-century operatic form, which falls somewhere between vaudeville, farce and operetta. We invite you to the “Gran Gala de Zarzuela” on 4 July: under the musical direction of José Miguel Pérez-Sierra with Cristina Toledo, Carmen Artaza, Santiago Sánchez, David Oller and Alejandro Baliñas Vieites (Los Paladines) alongside the Chorus and Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Further guest soloists include the flamenco icon and castanet player Lucero Tena, as well as Mané Galoyan and Rodrigo Garull, who are well known to our house.
Today, we celebrate a milestone that marks a powerful chapter in our journey. Christof Loy, director and founder of the international Zarzuela company Los Paladines, has been honored with the Oper! Award 2026 in the category of Best Entrepreneur. The ceremony took place this evening, February 23, at the magnificent Theater Regensburg. We are deeply grateful for this recognition and for the visibility it brings to a project born from passion, artistic excellence, and an unwavering belief in the international future of Zarzuela. This award gives us even greater momentum. It joins the outstanding reception and critical acclaim that have accompanied the first steps of our company: the “Gala de Zarzuela” at Theater Basel, the new production of El Barberillo de Lavapiés also at Theater Basel, and the new production of Benamor at MusikTheater an der Wien — a production that was also honored by Der Operetten-Frosch. This recognition is not only an award — it is a confirmation that bold ideas, cultural bridges, and artistic courage matter. It reminds us that innovation and tradition can move forward together, reaching new audiences and opening new stages. We move ahead inspired, energized, and more committed than ever to sharing the richness of Zarzuela with the world. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you. #opermagazin #zarzuela #award by @lospaladineszc
