-No one is immune to getting beat up hitting off the machine at times Not even the best players in the world (@mookiebetts) but the benefits from embracing the discomfort are worth it long term.

-It’s not always comfortable but it will show where you swing stands come game time.

✅trains your eyes for game like speeds
✅gets you more comfortable for high velo
✅allows you to practice getting comfortable in uncomfortable situation.

🔑Drill Series: Bounce Drill🔑

Bounce the ball with varying speeds, heights and spins. Stay behind the ⚾️ without drifting forward and drive it gap-to-gap. Swing at strikes only. Mix in bounces where the ⚾️ comes up then travels down over the plate and when it’s coming up as it crosses the plate.

Great drill for:
✅simulating off speed rhythm and movement.
✅holding you load in your back hip/not sliding forward
✅helps hitters who have a tendency to spin/pull off the ball
✅helps adjust to different timing

🔑Chase the ⚾️ off the barrel🔑

✅To get proper extension & backspin keep the barrel moving thru the ⚾️after contact
✅helps maximize our margin for error
❌don’t cut the swing off at contact=topspin/sidespin

🔑Slow & early rhythm, be ready at release🔑

✅pre-swing move early and slow
❌never late/rushed
✅ ready to get best swing off as the ball is released.
✅on the attack

-Even a great swing will breakdown if it’s starts late

🔑Behind & thru the ⚾️🔑

We want to get our barrel behind, inside and thru the baseball, never down and across it.

✅get on plane early and stay on plane to & thru contact
✅allows hitters the most margin for error
✅catch it then throw it off the barrel

❌don’t float/drift towards ⚾️w/ body

🔑✅Turn behind the ⚾️, ❌don’t drift 🔑

Once we get to launch position we want to:
✅make a clean turn w/ body behind the ball
✅allow the barrel to win the race out front
❌don’t float/drift towards ⚾️w/ body

🔑Drive it thru the back net🔑

I pride myself on blending both old and new school hitting philosophies. I’m all for getting the ball in the air & doing damage.

With that said some of the greatest hitters to ever play swear by hitting backspun line drives to the back net during cage work. To accomplish this you need:

✅direction thru the middle
✅palm up/palm down at contact with extension thru the ball
✅behind, inside & thru the ⚾️
