✨ Activator | Individualization | Maximizer | Input | Includer

#12 Subway Talk | ASK. TELL. THINK. 🎙️

ASK. TELL. THINK. -

🍂🎧 by @loveairmusic

Long story about a new habit 🩶

A few weeks ago, I started taking the stairs in the Madrid metro instead of using the escalators.

This wasn’t part of a fitness challenge or a new training plan. It was more of an experiment.

I spend most weekdays in the office. Like many people, I try to compensate for that on weekends by running, walking, or being generally active. But I started thinking that this pattern - sitting for five days and then trying to “make up for it” over two days - probably isn’t the best approach for me personally.

So I looked for something simple that could fit into my existing routine.

Madrid turned out to provide a ready-made solution. The metro stations here are surprisingly deep.

For the last few weeks, I’ve been taking the stairs whenever I’m going up. In the metro, at the office, at home. Nothing dramatic, just one small decision repeated many times throughout the day.

The interesting part is that it no longer feels like a decision. It has become automatic.

My watch suggests climbing 10 floors a day. On a typical workday, I’m now averaging around 49 floors.

What made me think about this more deeply was something I recently read in Mel Robbins’ The Let Them Theory @melrobbins. She writes about the difference between motivation and influence.

For years, my husband @bogdan_lysiak 🩶 has been the person who always takes the stairs. I watched him do it countless times. Sometimes I even thought it was unnecessary. Why walk up three floors when there’s an elevator right there?

Yet here I am, doing exactly the same thing.

Not because he convinced me. Not because he asked me to. Not because I suddenly became more motivated.

Simply because seeing someone consistently make a choice over a long period of time changes what feels normal.

That’s influence.

What’s a habit you picked up from someone without even realizing it?

Running is my freedom ❤️
Feeling sooooo good in this routine!

Sometimes all it takes is 2 minutes to get ready and step outside.

Today I saw a running reel right at the moment when I was thinking about taking a nap))). And then - suddenly, I was already running.

Sometimes motivation is enough to get you moving. But discipline is what keeps you going.
