10 years ago I walked into the humane society and said I’ll take the one no one wants. All the dogs were begging to get taken home and he was laying with eyes that said “I dare you”
But I guess what no one else wanted is the exact one I needed and that needed me
Crash was his own dog, he wasn’t exactly a “pet” or a malleable human centered creature meant to be baby talked or coddled.

He was an animal that demanded and commanded respect, yet he also was affectionate and loving on his own accord.

I never once called myself his pet parent, if anything he would’ve been mine. The one guiding who could be around the house, Who was decent enough to pass his standards to be around me.

He refused to go when given a 1 % chance to live by 8 vets over a year ago.
His survival story weaved into the lives of others who witnessed him , people who related to being rejected, abandoned, misunderstood and given the worst possible outcome, yet never giving in or behaving accordingly. And he didn’t just survive, he thrived and on his own terms . His fan base grew with every year he had to teach us mere humans what real strength and courage looked like.

With a vengeance, tenacity , spite and something to prove he carried on. Crash didn’t tolerate bullies or disrespect, he instantly knew who was to be trusted or not. His love was earned but that’s what made it real, he wasn’t handing it out to just anyone.
Swallowing 100s of earplugs , avocado pits and breaking both his legs over the years , he lived like a maniac and cheated death seemingly every other week. His theme song amongst many who knew him was “rooster” by Alice In Chains ( “you know he ain’t gonna die”)

Today he decided to go , on Labor Day. Crash notoriously hated and scoffed at days off, he always stood guard and was on his job to protect the house and me and I’m sure we had political differences on supporting time off work .
On his death bed they had him in a huge muzzle, even with his organs failing , he still had everyone on guard as he did his job of making sure I was safe until the bitter end

I’ll never forget nor replace you Crash.
May you rest in whatever you want to and I certainly doubt it’s peace. by @lovejuvida
