Stop the press (literally)…
My cake made it into VOGUE!!! 😱🎉

One of my wedding cakes has been featured in VOGUE as part of the beautiful wedding of Lady Violet and Viscount Garnock at Belvoir Castle.

It’s an absolute dream come true to see my work alongside such stunning styling and such a special love story.

Thank you to the new Viscount and Viscountess Garnock and Peter Laird, their wedding planner for trusting me to play a small (but sweet!) part in your day.

Link to the full feature of their beautiful day in my bio.

One year since we finished building my cake studio! 🎉

Blood, sweat and tears went into this little space, not to mention an injured shoulder that is still giving me grief to this day! 😂 But hand on heart, it is one of the best investments I have ever made.

It was a bit of a race against time to get it finished so I could work on the Belvoir Castle project last year. The electrics weren’t in until January this year, I made do with extension cables and spotlights. Needs must!

Fast forward a year and I’ve taught several classes, created many wedding and celebration cakes, held numerous consultations and, of course, I’m now working on my second Belvoir Castle project in here.

But do you know what I love most about having this space?

When I’ve finished work, I can simply close the door, walk home (albeit just a few steps away) and switch off. No packing everything away, no taking over the kitchen, no work spilling into the rest of the house.

It’s my little workspace, my classroom and my creative space. And I wouldn’t be without it. ❤️

Congratulations Hatty & Chet 🧡

I don’t often get to meet both the bride and groom on their wedding day. Most of the time, I’ve delivered, set everything up and left long before the reception begins. But if couples ask me to deliver during or just before their reception, and I can make it work, I’m always happy to accommodate.

And honestly, these moments make it so worthwhile.

I’d never met the groom before, and had only met the bride once over Zoom. He told me he’d only ever seen an inspiration photo of the cake they wanted, so he wasn’t quite prepared for what arrived. Hearing the bride say ‘It’s amazing’ as I placed it on the table and his words?

“I didn’t think it would be as good but I didn’t expect it to be even better! Can I give you a thank you hug?”

Well, that’s a compliment that makes all those hours of planning and creating worthwhile.

Because seeing a couple’s reaction to their cake in person is something quite special.

Thanks to @amanda_forman_photography for the bts vids, can’t wait for the pro photos! And thanks to the hubs who got roped in last minute to help carry the cake.

It’s time!!!

The trials are done, right down to dropping the finished pieces to make sure they are sturdy enough because I am simply that person who will drop some pieces during setup 🙄 😂

But the drawing and cutting of templates, which windows will let light through, how to get the round towers done have begun! Remember I don’t usually make gingerbread so this is a huge challenge. Keep your fingers, eyes, legs, toes, everything crossed for me 🤞🏻

Congratulation Louisa & Richard 🧡

They chose three flavours : Coffee & Walnut, Lemon and Chocolate

Delivered to @thefalconhotel and it was so good to see @louisacorry7 on the day looking so stunning!

There’s something beautiful about the simplicity of a long wedding cake. A classic shape and delicate buttercream piping. Sometimes, less really is more.

I love how this style brings a touch of nostalgia while still feeling fresh and modern. No elaborate decorations, no fuss, just beautiful details that make it special.

Simple, elegant and oh-so-pretty.

One tiger. Two moments in time. A world of growth between them. 🐅❤️

Watching my baby girl revisit one of her first realism pieces from 2018 and transform it into the vibrant, lifelike artwork it is today has been incredible.

Watch the transformation unfold—from the original black-and-grey tiger to a richly detailed piece filled with depth, colour and character. Every stripe, shadow and highlight reflects years of practice, patience and dedication.

This isn’t just a before-and-after. It’s a beautiful reminder of what happens when talent is nurtured through hard work, continuous learning and the courage to keep pushing beyond your limits.

Talent may be where the journey begins, but commitment is what brings it to life.

So incredibly proud of you, Kimmi. Look how far you’ve come! ❤️ by @lovelifeeatcake

Apple & Cinnamon cake with Salted Caramel

Some flavours are just made for autumn, and this one is no exception!

It’s been my most popular flavour for the past three years, and while it’s delicious all year round, I think it really comes into its own in autumn.

Pair it with an autumn-themed wedding cake, rich seasonal colours and you have a cake that celebrates the season in all its glory. 🍁 🍂

I will be at The Barnsdale wedding showcase on 7th & 8th November and will definitely have some for you to try!

The cake cutting is on your wedding timeline, so make it count! 🎂

It’s one of those wedding traditions that’s easy to overlook when you’re planning all the little details. But it’s more than just cutting a cake. It’s a symbolic moment of unity and your first shared task as newlyweds.

And let’s not forget, it’s one of those moments when everyone’s cameras will be pointed at you!

So, here’s a little tip from your cake designer: think carefully about where you place your cake.

✨ Consider the background. What will be behind you in those photos? A beautiful backdrop can make all the difference.

☀️ Think about the lighting. Natural light is lovely, but direct sunlight can be harsh, especially if you’re cutting your cake earlier in the day.

📸 Give your photographer a heads-up. They can help you find the perfect spot to capture the moment beautifully.

Your wedding cake deserves its moment in the spotlight, and so do you!

A little planning goes a long way in making sure those cake-cutting photos are ones you’ll love looking back on for years to come.

Save this for your wedding planning checklist, and don’t forget to chat to your cake designer and photographer about the best spot for your cake. 🤍

Congratulations R & J 🩷

100 little beauties, made with love for R & J’s wedding last weekend at The Barnsdale Hotel.

Their lovely florist, Georgia, sent me photos of the flowers she’d be using, and I set about creating cupcakes to complement them.

And honestly, walking into the barn and hearing, “Oh, they match her flowers!” was just the best. 🥹

A little reminder that wedding cupcakes don’t have to be just a sweet treat on the side. They can be part of the overall look, too. 🌸

Thank you, R & J, for letting me be part of your special day, and Georgia, for sharing your floral vision with me! And thank you to Nikki for styling the piano. It’s the little details like these that make everything come together so beautifully. I love being able to work alongside your wedding suppliers to create something that feels connected, considered and personal to you.
