as we near the end of september, i just wanted to make a little post to raise awareness of a few conditions that are highlighted throughout this month🌻

september includes pain awareness month, blood & childhood cancer awareness month, suicide prevention month and several other important awareness campaigns. all of which deserve to be talked about, shared and understood.

one of the biggest things i want Lover Girls Studio to stand for is reminding people that invisible disabilities are still disabilities. you never know what someone is dealing with behind the scenes so please be kind, listen and don’t judge someone’s experience by what you can see 🫶🏻

if you live with chronic pain or another invisible illness, you are not alone 💊🌻🩼

for anyone struggling with their mental health, please do reach out for support!! i’ve listed two 24/7 support chat lines for those living in the uk

Hip replacement story time: my experience getting surgery at 22 years old as a chronically ill & disabled young woman 🌻🩼
I wanted to share my experience so that anyone who may be going through the same or a similar situation can feel a little less alone🫶🏻
I’ve had many comments about being ‘too young’ to have a hip replacement but the reality is that age doesn’t determine how much pain someone is in or how much their condition impacts their life🫶🏻There’s a stigma around young people with health problems, may it be a physical or mental condition, people always have something to comment on which is hurtful to see & experience. Surround yourself with the people you feel comfortable with, someone who truly loves & cares for you will never make you feel bad about yourself! 🌟
Being a young, disabled woman can be difficult in so many ways and I’m sure others can relate. Unfortunately I’ve had to fight to be heard by doctors throughout my life, which I know is something many other chronically ill & disabled people have experienced too❤️‍🩹
I started Lovergirlsstudiouk with the intent to connect with people going through similar situations and create a safe space for all. I know how isolating chronic illness can feel but there are so many others who have been through the same!! I’ve already met so many lovely people through our shared experiences and I’d love to hear your experiences and how it impacts you. I am in no way claiming to be a professional but my dm’s are always open for a chat, you’re not alone and people do care about what you have to say!☁️🩷

🌻 Invisible Disability Awareness Week: 19–25 October 2025 🌻

This past year has been such an emotional rollercoaster of learning to accept that being disabled is a big part of who I am. Living with depression & anxiety & chronic pain & hip issues affects every part of my daily life. I don’t 100% agree with the phrase ‘it doesn’t define me’ because although in many ways it does, I want to be more than my condition.

Another phrase which really resonated with me & is something I repeat over & over again is: “chronic means constant” my chronic illness is something that I will live with forever💛

There is so much stigma around hidden disabilities because people assume if they can’t see it, it’s not real. But trust me, it is real. I have experienced it first hand and know many people close to me going through their own struggles daily. People assume that if you look ‘fine’ or ‘okay’ then you must be but that isn’t the case for people with invisible disabilities.

I try to be open about my struggles because I know I’m not the only one and my goal with this account (both on instagram & tiktok) is to create a community and a safe space online. If I can share my experience, maybe someone else somewhere feels less alone. There are so many amazing online communities of people who are going through similar things to me or share similar hobbies. It is not impossible that people with invisible illnesses can continue to live, create, socialise & show up in their own unique ways… it’s just a little more difficult.

So this week in particular has inspired me to not be afraid to tell my story. I’m sharing how I am one of those affected by invisible illnesses but also I’m here to support anyone else going through their own battles. I am in no way claiming to be a professional but my DM is always open for a friendly chat🌟🧸
