Tom Hart writes calm, emotional songs out of his own highs and lows.

What he is after is the moment a room goes quiet and a line lands deeper than expected. Then the opposite moment: the whole room singing it back.

@tomhartmusic plays LOVNG ROOM at Eetcafé Edita, Amsterdam, on Thursday 26 November.

Ludo sings with just a guitar and a voice.

The songs are built out of basic chord progressions and lyrics from his heart. Instead of playing at you, Ludo is trying to reach whoever is listening.

Ludo plays LOVNG ROOM at OBA Postjesweg, Amsterdam, on Saturday 21 November — a library room, no bar, tea only, and close enough that nothing gets lost.

Gerben Tuin's guitar doubles as a drum kit, so a solo set never sits still.

The lyrics are poetic, written in Dutch and English, and each song picks its own genre — folk, jazz, funk, whatever fits. Here he's talking about a song he wrote one evening after losing his temper with his kids, and seeing their faces.

If the room is willing, the stories go both ways.

@gerbentuin plays LOVNG ROOM at Eetcafé Edita, Amsterdam, on Thursday 26 November.

Country, folk, blues and roots — and a story before most of the songs.

Walter Rootsie is an Amsterdam singer-songwriter who has spent years on stages across the Netherlands, Spain and Finland, where he founded his own Americana band and has four albums behind him, most recently People Talk. He plays solo here: acoustic guitar, his own songs, and the anecdotes that come with them.

He closes Saturday night at OBA Postjesweg — a quiet library room, no bar, tea only, and close enough that nothing gets lost. Thara opens with her pop-folk songs, and before them an open stage: short sets from the floor.

OBA Postjesweg, Amsterdam. Saturday 31 October, doors 19:00, music from 19:30. €12.

A quiet library room in Amsterdam, no bar, tea only — and a voice close enough to hear the breath in it.

@thara_geldenhuis is a South African singer-songwriter based in the Netherlands. She plays solo, acoustic guitar and keyboard: pop-folk songs about love, change, longing and faith, and the things we all carry within us. Personal songs that tend to land as familiar.

Walter Rootsie closes the night — an Amsterdam singer-songwriter moving between country, folk, blues and roots, with stories between the songs. And the evening opens with an open stage: short sets from the floor, so a few more voices get the room first.

OBA Postjesweg, Amsterdam. Saturday 31 October, doors 19:00, music from 19:30. €12.
