It’s only once you get up close to the colours, patterns and texture of the salmon that you realise they fit into every aspect of nature.🌿

Their eyes seem to hold features of the universe above, matched with their distinct circle markings on their gill plate too.🌌

But that’s surrounded and almost drowned out by the autumnal camouflage and spawning colours on their scales much like the floor of the Earth at this time of the year - and the forests that overlook the river, both turning at the same time. 🍂

However when you turn them to have the light react differently to their scales they could fit into the foliage that the deer rustle through to feed up before the winter comes. Which is a reminder that when they die they’ll decompose leaving rich nutrients for all to benefit from -

It’s as if the world is letting you know how important they are at every glance. 🎣

I think this is the prettiest pike I’ve caught!!🤩 I’ve been pretty ill and rundown lately so I went for a chilled out sit down by the waters edge and got the deadbaits out to recharge the body battery!🐟🪫🔋

The colours from head to tail were absolutely stunning, with the prettiest gold and red in its scales. Fitting the autumnal colours perfectly🍁😍

I didn’t have any scales on me but she was definitely on that 20lbs mark, as far as butter with a belly full of bait fish! 🎣

‼️THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT WAY TO HANDLE SALMON!
- At the time of capturing this fish I was not aware of the importance of fish handling/care, especially that of which with salmon!
- Although this fish went back strong, it is far too likely that they won’t go back fit. Learn from my mistake so you don’t have to make it — below I will leave a link that helped me learn!

The king of the river 👑
I am absolutely speechless by this truly beautiful salmon!!
The thought of catching a salmon like this has always been a dream.💭 it’s not far off the ones you see on the walls in museums that I’d stare at for ages as a youngster ;)😅
I am well and truly delighted with this (most likely) lifetime PB. It’s fair to say I’m addicted to looking at the photos so here’s the full wack for you haha 😆
This was from the same trip as the previously posted salmon so once again I had no scales but I did find a measuring tape which recorded:
Length - 39inches (99.06cm)
Girth - 19inches (48.26cm)
This is anywhere between 20-25lbs, whatever the weight is it’s great - I am one happy angler🤝🫡
Calculator used - https://www.letsflyfish.com/weight.htm
(Apologies now for the spam of this fish to come😆)

Time to get a fly set up ordered and catch the same size that way!

At first light the perch were biting the other day! These were the same session as the other post, only a few hits but every one of them was a great fish 🎣 plus a smaller one which was absolutely immaculateeeeeeee😍

Happy happy days!!!!🎣😍
This bit of river gets a lot of pressure and can feel like you’re casting at nothing, whilst knowing fine well what’s down there waiting to be caught. This was on the same session as the last perch I posted, being the biggest one I landed with a whopping big mouth!! But, with it being pressured I switched from a shad to a westin ned rig which was absolutely choked! But unlike normal techniques with the ned, I was thrashing about on the bottom to look like an injured or struggling fish in the flooded flow of the river which paid its dividends, either pure luck or soemthing it hadn’t seen so much of before 🤷‍♂️ 🎣

Good old start to the pike season!🐊 The last time I caught one of these was at the start of June!!!!!!! Due to the hot weather and doing a lot of other types of fishing, but it didn’t half feel good to get that aggressive strike again🎯

Absolutely loved being out on a ‘proper’ boat too with a new friend @n.elureguide who has been visiting the lakes, not a bad pike to see at the start of your fishing week holiday! So far, the start of autumn has been a productive start, fingers crossed it continues!🍁❄️

(P.S, anyone selling a boat like this let me knowwwwwww haha)

I can appreciate the desire for the chrome silver salmon in the spring (which I absolutely dream of catching next year!). Buttt there is something magical about the colours they change in to when they’re nearing spawning time. What looks like a big brown slug from after, turns in to a spectrum of every colour under the sun!!😍

This belter was landed shortly after the sea trout!! I spent 6 hours fishing, seeing nothing and feeling like going home but then suddenly they’re both sat in the same pool waiting to be caught haha!

Perhaps the most quiet I’ve been on Instagram in a whole year… with starting my own YouTube channel and trying to make it work it’s been carnage but absolutely love it! But I’ve snook in the odd session for fun here and there. Anddddd, after a mentally busy year, I finally had time to go on the salmon/sea trout again for the first session of the year… which paid off!! A proper dark bronze sea trout in the net 😍🎣 by @lsaac.bell

What took weeks to plan and achieve, was well rewarded with this stunning brown trout! Caught on a fly from a stream which started from a trickle on the mountainside ⛰️

About a year ago I was wandering up a mountain and spotted a tiny stream, naturally being an angler, I wondered if anything could live there at roughly 200ft.

Fast forward to now and I finally went back out to explore it! Admittedly going about it the ‘wrong’ way, spooking all the fish and not having a clue about fly fishing…

However, once I’d found where the stream had opened up, a mini weir pool held all my answers with this decent little brown trout!!!

The other day I had theeee best bass session I’ve ever had!!🌊🎣
A great fishing session is defined in many ways, but this time it was from the aaamountttttt of times I’ve came down to this mark in hopes of a singular bass and had nothing to show, which is fishing at the end of the day. 🤣

But, when I came down on a higher tide than usual and nice mix of swell, wind and clarity I landed 15 cracking bass, lost a painfully load more and had them on every type of lure I had in my box! Topwater (my first time!) crank baits, soft plastics, pencils, jigs etc etc etc it was amazing!!! With, the best part of it all, landing a pb! No scales or tape measure but what a chunk!🎣🐟
