![With the help of McMaster University academics, gender affirming care for youth has been banned in Florida for almost 4 years.
Read McNamara et al.’s analysis of the underlying “evidence”: https://law.yale.edu/sites/default/files/documents/documents/pdf/critical_review_florida_medicaid_report_7.8.22.pdf
On this day in 2022, Patrick Hunter -a SEGM affiliate on the Florida Board of Medicine- repeatedly invoked McMaster’s name to support a rule against care. Subsequent court documents [1] indicate the authors were recommended to Florida by the hate group SEGM [2]. Romina Brignardello Petersen was told to use a pro-conversion report as a model [3].
The anti-trans work for the state of Florida was never disclosed as a conflict of interest in the McMaster author’s subsequent SEGM-funded articles. Patrick Hunter’s name and role was also undisclosed in the SEGM-McMaster articles, despite contributing to their design [4].
Shame on the authors and McMaster U!
