As in all such things in life, all good things must come to an end, and I have decided to retire from the game that has brought myself and my family so much. Thank you, volleyball. Thank you for all the relationships and some of the greatest friendships I have made that I would have never come across otherwise. Thank you for providing me with such a passion and drive to work towards something I love. Thank you for teaching me to never give up and what hard work and determination look like. Thank you for being my escape and my safe place. Thank you for teaching me what it takes to be a proper teammate on and off the court. Thank you for providing me with opportunities to travel the world and see places and experience cultures I never imagined being a part of. Thank you for providing a platform to represent this Country. Thank you for providing a setting where a side of me only comes out for. Thank you for letting me be Berks. Thank you to my teammates. Thank you for pushing me to be a better athlete but, more importantly, a better person. Thank you for welcoming me to each team I have been a part of. Thank you for wanting to build a friendship and taking me in at times it was uncomfortable. Thank you for joining me in some of the greatest battles on the court. Thank you for the commodity that we built grinding and perfecting our craft day in and day out. Thank you for creating some of my fondest memories. Thank you for teaching me your culture and what it looks like to live in your country. Thank you for making the effort to stay connected with me even when we are no longer on the same team. LAYERING YOUR OFFENCE 👉 When I say layering your offence, I’m talking about building complexity, deception, and progression into the way we run the game. It’s not just about calling a play — it’s about stacking options on top of each other to repeatedly give your team an advantage. ✅ In this situation it starts with first tempo & ends with a pipe. The best in the world can stretch this beyond one action — how can this action impact the next point, and the next point, and the next game. ALL IN 💥💥💥 by @lucasvanb
Our first Full Team Domination camp was a massive success! This group put in the work all day, diving into the same drills and systems we use with the national team. The next wave is on the rise! Great job, boys!🔥 by @lucasvanb
As Vibe’s Director of Wellness, I’m beyond fortunate to work alongside incredible athletes and leaders like @lucasvanb —2x Olympian, Team Canada middle, and our Senior Director of Athlete Skills & Development. Lucas knows that mental performance is just as important as physical training—and he’s passionate about helping athletes build these skills with intention. For this reason, we’re both pumped to team-up with Fahreen Rayani, Athleticare’s Mental Performance Coach, to bring 1:1 mental performance training and team workshops to Vibe athletes! Stay tuned for Fahreen’s video next week to learn more about her approach and impact! Athletes—what’s one mindset skill you want to build this season, or wish you learned earlier in your sport? Drop it in the comments! #VibeVolleyball #MentalPerformanceTraining #Athleticare #LucasVanBerkel #FahreenRayani #TotalAthleteWellness #FuelAndFocus #VolleyballCanada #SportsNutrition #DietitiansofInstagram #FemaleAthletes #zerone by @lucasvanb
