POSTS STORIES REELS

Today we announce The Death and Life of the Great Lakes. Written throughout 2024 and early 2025; it is our best attempt at sonically embodying each of the five Great Lakes. It is also a meditation on unexpected loss, a celebration of community, and a tribute to my mother; who passed away in July of 2024. We pushed ourselves in every capacity in the writing and recording of this album and are incredibly proud of the result. It is simultaneously more melodic and more abrasive than anything we’ve written previously and it is the most fully realized version of this project yet. Engineered and mixed by Chris Frankhauser at @raygunrecordingstudio and mastered by Blake Bickel at @dynamicsoundservice_mastering, it sounds absolutely massive and retains all of the intensity of our live performances.

The Death and Life of the Great Lakes releases 9/12 digitally and in a beautiful double LP format; featuring gorgeous watercolor work by @kgoodeillustrations and an impeccable layout by @weareharbinger. This is our first time releasing our music on vinyl and we are incredibly stoked. Preorder at the link in our bio!

Listen to Michigan here or anywhere you stream music. Michigan captures the beauty of summer along the Lake Michigan shoreline; teal waves, sunsets, dunes, warmth, sand and pine, summer as it should be. The first day that we played this song in full was the last day that I spoke with my mother. I called her on my way home from practicing with Paul and she passed away later that night. This is an important song to us.

This video features footage spanning August 2024 to July 2025 and includes video from shows, writing, demoing, recording, and hanging hard. Thank you to @thistownneedserin, @i_.l_.i_.o_, @temporalhaze, Brad of @cavalcadelansing, @centenary_vomit, @nick.is.sad and anyone else that captured live footage of us during the past year.

We're doing shows now! Starting off hosting a run of two of Michigan's most creative and awe-inspiring acts, Hail your highness and (and local o-haus faves) Lucius fox, with support from our own Grassland. All two piece bands, isnt that fun? This isn't a party! Street parking only! Open to the public. NOTAFLOF/$10 donations. Doors at 7. We hope to see you there! by @lucius_fox_mi

We released The Death and Life of the Great Lakes one year ago today. It is the most cohesive and fully realized version of what this project has been working towards and I’m immensely proud of what we achieved with it. We have been afforded many opportunities, forged new friendships, grew existing friendships, gotten to explore places new and familiar, and played a lot of shows in both the year leading up to its release and the year that followed. Jam it today.

My Chemical Romance RIPPED by @lucius_fox_mi

Thank you to @matthew_stafford_ for the PYROCUMULONIMBUS tattoo. I’ve been slowly filling in my arm with Lucius Fox themed tattoos that also act as intros to science lessons. We released our album Solastalgia four years ago as of this past Tuesday and it is crazy to consider everything we’ve been fortunate enough to experience in the past four years of rippin riffs and blastin beats. Our next gig is next Saturday as part of Art Pop in the @ogmabrewing beer garden. by @lucius_fox_mi
