📚 It's Book Lovers Day. 📖

I'm a wishful reader. I am so time poor and have little bandwidth left at the end of each day for reading, but I have a stack of books I want to read (or finish reading) by the end of the year. This includes Year of the Monkey by Patti Smith whose writing (and music) I adore and a book about German poet Goethe that my dad gifted me recently.

Books are magical and illuminating. Even as objects, books are beautiful and they smell good. Anyone else who loves the smell of books?

I've got two bookish designs in my new Christmas card range this year and even though we're still in the middle of a neverending summer heatwave, Christmas is not far away! 🎄😅

So here's to cosying up in knitted sweaters with a cup of chai and a good book that will take you on a journey. 👩🏻‍🏫 And please leave you book recommendations below! I know there is more magic to discover. 🪄 by @luckyalice.co

I admit my proper rest has come and gone and I'm back in the rat race, but boy it was needed.

So here's a little May photo dump...

I celebrated my birthday 🎂, my daughter turned 8 🎉, and we (belatedly) celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary 🍾 with a family trip to Sardinia. 🌞🐠⛱️ There's a reason May is my favourite month!

If you swipe you'll see a couple of new designs hidden in the mix. They will be foil enhanced and I'm so excited to be getting some samples made soon.

A few years ago, when I was mostly drawing food, I thought that the two things I really wanted to draw but didn't know how to were figures and lettering. One day I sat down and just drew a woman and it quickly snowballed from there. But lettering is something I've been stuck on for a long time. I love perfect lettering, but I struggle with it as an artist. I also love imperfect lettering, something that can seem a little off the cuff but authentic and genuine, and that's what my new range (two ranges actually) will be centering on.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, something that is close to my heart. Most of us have either experienced poor mental health ourselves or witnessed it around us, seeing friends, family and loved ones suffer. The helplessness that poor mental health can cause can be devastating.

Apparently 1 in 4 people in England will experience some kind of mental health problem each year. That's a staggering number.

Sometimes just a small gesture can make a big difference - a phone call, a meaningful card, a walk in the park together, or even just sitting together in silence.

I've created a few cards about support and listening, encouragement and friendship. These are not the cards that fly off the shelf in big numbers necessarily, but they are so meaningful to me. I hope they may be meaningful to someone else, too. ❤️ by @luckyalice.co

Packing orders never gets old. There's something so rewarding about wrapping up a print or putting belly bands around a pack of cards knowing these pieces are all grown up and heading into the big wide world on their own.

Today I sent one of my bestselling prints off. Swipe to see it. 🏊🏾‍♂️🐠

I almost didn't include this design in my initial print release and now it's one of my strongest sellers. So I'm glad I did.

Hands up if you love swimming, snorkeling, diving or just paddling in the water. 🙋🏻‍♀️

Here's to warmer weather and beaches! by @luckyalice.co

I shared the sailor ⛵ from my new card-range-in-the-making in my last post, so this time I'm sharing the tailor 🪡, the merman 🧜🏾‍♂️ and the prince charming 👑.

There are more boys and men in my very first male range titled, you guessed it, "Of Sailors and Tailors" and I've been having so much fun creating these designs. I wasn't sure I could draw men as drawing women has been my thing for so long.

I'm nearly done with this range and then I'll be test printing them to see how they turn out as actual physical cards. I'll keep you updated on the progress. ☺️ by @luckyalice.co

Oh hi 🤗 I accidentally ghosted Instagram, but I'm back with cake! Yes, it's my birthday and showing up here is the way I mean to keep going on...

If you swipe you'll see what I'll be doing later this evening and if you swipe again you'll see one of the new designs I've been working on - a range of men's greetings card. I truly have neglected showing up here and I'll work on getting better at it, but I've been mad busy working on new ranges behind the scenes. I can't wait to show more soon. ☀️ by @luckyalice.co

Mother's Day is just around the corner here in the UK. 15th March to be precise. What have you got planned?

My mum's visiting from abroad and I'm whisking her away on a girl's spa day the day before. The day may feature some bubbles, bath and otherwise. 🥂

If you like this card it can be found on my website (link in bio). Just search "Mothers Day" and it will show up.
