I want to echo the words and image shared by my dear friend @kateshermanart We have spent 3 years witnessing in real time a genocide. The targeting, bombing, starvation, snipering of babies, children, women, medics and journalists. We have seen Gaza reduced to rubble with unknown amounts of bodies still buried. We have watched as Palestinians have had every last shred of humanity and dignity stripped from them. We have heard the many accounts of children as young as 3 being amputated upon with no pain relief at all because the Israeli government won’t allow it in. We have heard all the statistics that are just too horrifying for words.. we hang our heads, we weep, we say this is terrible but what can I do, and we get on with our days. Safe in the comfort that our children are safe, their bellies full, they won’t be bombed or shot at as they queue for food or water. If you “like” posts about these horrors but do no more, be braver, raise your voice, put your head above the parapet and call for an End to the Genocide. Our voices are powerful.. but only really en masse. Marches are powerful but so much more so when they are Massive. You can raise your voice with love, not division or hate. Love for those being slaughtered. Do this for them. But do it also for yourself, your future self is begging you to be on the right side of history. If you can get to the march in London on Saturday do it. It will be huge, you will find love and the best of humanity there. If you can’t, then post on here, make a statement to say you are against the murder of innocent children - surely surely That is not complicated or controversial. ❤️💚🤍🖤 by @lucyogdenceramics
Wholesome post alert for anyone who needs it! 🤪 I am a bloody lucky woman in so many respects, not least having spectacular friends. Spent Saturday with these two darlings @kateshermanart @ruthgaskellartist Kate taught me and Ruth how to make a basket. It was a warm, joyous, sweet and gentle day. A triangle of love and support I’m so lucky to be one corner of. My basket was the winkiest wonkiest but I love it! In a tipsy turvy world where we see so much unkindness, cruelty and horror, to notice the good, to see our luck and revel in it is an act of resistance. ❤️ by @lucyogdenceramics
Heron in flight By @lucyogdenceramics This beautiful ceramic plate will be available at our online auction in aid of @hope_and_play_charity 🕊️ H:26cm W:26cm D:1.5cm “One of the things herons symbolise is a bridge between worlds as they are equally happy on land as in water. I believe in that world.” The online auction will begin on the 3rd of October running for 2 weeks. I couldn’t make it Liverpool this weekend to hold a sign saying I’m against genocide and I support organisations trying to prevent it. I applaud with my whole heart those that did, many, many much older folks. One notably celebrating his 83rd birthday as he was arrested. Some in their 90s.. being hauled away for saying our government should not be allowing arms to be sold to a genocidal government targeting children, doctors, journalists. I applaud you. Here is my sign. FREE PALESTINE 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸 by @lucyogdenceramics
My website is open. It went live yesterday and subscribers were notified. There’s just a few pieces left and this heavy winged heron is one of them. Definitely one of my favourites, not jaunty, perhaps even melancholic. Thankyou to all who purchased 🙏 I will be packing up and sending out today and tomorrow. by @lucyogdenceramics
I’m selling these 3 doves of peace plates and will be donating 100% of proceeds to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) @medicalaidpal ** All sold ** 23.5cm diameter £95 each If you’d like one leave a message in the comments below DON’T dm me. 🙏 It’s easier to see if all messages in one place. Can’t believe I forgot to say FREE FREE PALESTINE 🕊️🕊️🕊️ by @lucyogdenceramics
Herons and seaweed patterns. So relieved these came out ok although one does have a teeny fault, it’ll still go in sale but be a bit reduced. The herons stand perfectly still for so long which I haven’t really captured.. these are all on the move. Maybe I’ll do that in the next batch. One of the things herons symbolise is a bridge between worlds as they’re equally happy on land as in water. Seems poignant to me. We seem to inhabit a world of injustice and cruelty but just over there, within reach is a world of peace and harmony. I believe in that world. I believe all people should be free from persecution, how can that be up for debate? Free Palestine, free all who are oppressed xxx by @lucyogdenceramics
Corvid collection. Some falling, some rising, some flying, some mooching. They are very present in my garden but also so many crows at the river, numbers increasing atm. Fields of them. Sitting on posts as I walk by with my dog, unruffled, giving us the beady eye. Bloody love em. by @lucyogdenceramics
Little egrets! My river never fails to give me the sighting of at least a couple of them and they always always lift my heart, the way they lift off kinda all gangly then turn into sleek and orderly flying machines. On a recent trip to the West Country I was gifted the sight of a field or two on the Somerset levels absolutely jam packed with them! So extraordinary! Often lifting off together en masse, an incredible sight to see. These will be in my next sale and subscribers will be notified first when that is. 👆Overseas customers - I’m afraid I won’t have the postage/duty stuff set up for this sale. 😬 Big Apologies. It seems there’s a few hoops to be jumped through. I promise the following one I absolutely Will have it all organised. And I will keep you posted as to when I’ve sorted it. Love and blessings. Keep talking about Palestine, keep posting, keep boycotting, protest in any and all ways available to you. Support the charities on the ground risking life and limb. We are not powerless 🇵🇸❤️🇵🇸❤️🇵🇸 by @lucyogdenceramics
Cormorant collection is growing. I adore these birds, they have such a nonchalance about them. This very morning I saw 6 (SIX) on my river walk. 2 hanging around on a sandbank and 2 more flew over to join them. I’ve only ever seen 2 at any one time before so was very excited. Then further upstream one joined me swimming and fishing alongside me. She surfaced right next to a little egret and they had something of a hilarious standoff, standing about a foot apart eyeballing each other (egret won and cormorant departed with what looked like a shrug of his shoulders 🤣), then a bit further on Another drying wings so close to me and stayed, seemingly completely unbothered by my presence. Sometimes (often) I feel somewhat overwhelmed with my fortune at being able to walk this river and see such an abundance of glorious bird life. Anyway came home and thought I’d photograph my cormorant plates only to find I had 6 of them!! Of course I do realise some of the later ones could have been the earlier ones 🤪 but I’m still counting 6! These will be going on my website and subscribers will get first dibs. Just emptied a heron heavy kiln load. Glazing and hopefully back in today. On a go slow slow day. A reminder of the old me who when feeling super tired would push through as going slowly and gently didn’t feel an option. Am pleased with these thus far but so much rests on the glaze firing. Particularly hoping the doves come out successfully as these will be sold (here on instagram) for Palestinian charity. Free Free Palestine. 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸 Can you smell the winds of change.. I certainly can. The world is chock full of good people, brave people, people to emulate and follow. ❤️🇵🇸❤️ by @lucyogdenceramics
