I often get asked by people “your snake knows the difference between you and other people right?”. I used to believe they didn’t know the difference between myself or any other human. And I believed that their behavior was based off of mainly instincts, and just learning that humans in general weren’t a threat. But I was wrong. All snakes are not the same. And some are more intelligent than people think. Here enters the Reticulated python as an example. My favorite snake species to keep. I initially got into them simply because I wanted a giant snake. But as a keeper I started to realize just how quick these snakes seemed to learn, change behavior, and just seem different (personality wise) than any other snake species I’ve ever kept. And after growing and learning in the hobby, and learning that there are levels to snake’s intelligence levels… I became interested in researching just where do reticulated pythons rank on the list of intelligent snake species. And not much to my surprise, retics are considered one of the world’s most intelligent snakes based on the criteria of how researchers test them as well as based on keepers accounts. Dope!

I’m going to be dropping some photos the next few days of some of the people I’ve met in this hobby. So many in my camera roll that I just haven’t dropped.

There’s no better picture to start this off with than this photo of myself and @outbackreptiles owner Ian. I want to focus on this picture and this day specifically. A few months ago I was depressed and just feeling lost. I distanced myself from everyone and everything. There was a reptile expo in Pennsylvania that I purposely went to towards the closing time , hoping to avoid seeing people. I saw Ian, and he gave a very common greeting “hey how are you?” And for some reason I told the truth and I told him “not too good.” Now for people who don’t know Ian is pretty much the largest vendor at most reptile expos I go to here in the mid-eastern Atlantic area.
Meaning they stay busy. But he took the time to come from around his table, and when I say, not only did he listen, but he gave some of the best advice and most real words after hearing about my situation I was in. And he may not know it, but it helped bring me out of the dark place I was in. Ian has always been a supporter and understanding of the @blackreptileownersbro movement as well. Wanting to see more inclusion in the hobby to include everyone equally. So I have always respected him for that. But the way he took his time out this day to take as long as was needed to just talk to me…. This is why I always say I love the reptile hobby, but I love the people that make up the hobby just as much or even more. Because you meet some amazing humans. So thank you Ian 🙏🏽

So the little one is 3 now as many of you all know. And as I show often, she definitely loves reptiles the same way that I love reptiles. But our shared love doesn’t stop there.I used to be a baltimore club dancing fool before social media was big. But I was one of them ones (and 100% retired now lol) but The Baltimore Snake princess wouldn’t be baltimore if she didn’t love dancing to club music. Daily she ask to specifically put on songs by @runitup.jordan those are her favorite songs to dance to. And she does her lil Baltimore bop and her crazy legs. Not too much on her crazy legs now lol. She’s still a baby. Ima have to get her with @bmorethandance to help her perfect her style. Get it lil one lol

All though many python and boa keepers will hate to admit it, when it comes to some of THE BEST species of snakes to keep as pets, many colubrids too the list. Colubrids make amazing pets, many species especially for first time snake owners. They don’t become giants, most don’t require very specific humidity in the enclosures. And most are extremely easy to handle and manage even for kids. Some popular species to look into if you’re thinking about getting one as a pet that’s easy to care for and manage would be corn snakes, garter snakes, hognose snakes, and a variety of milk snakes and king snakes. The very popular and common black rat snake is one of the most recognizable and popular colubrids that many people@see on the wild.

Imitation is always flattering, but the haters in the hobby that act like they don’t like you yet creep and copy ya style lol… I see it in the reptile hobby when it comes to content creators all the time lol

When i hear people say that, its one of the most ridiculous things I think anyone can say out of their mouths. Having a passion for something, whether it be animals... REPTILE TYPE OF ANIMALS, art, music, dance, science...anything!!! Is an interest and love that is shared by humans. Its not a race thing. So whatever you are passionate about, dont ever EVER let anyone make you think that its not "cool enough" or "popular enough". Its what you love and thats all that matters.

The last major addition to our exotic family here at The Baltimore Snakeman LLC. We are overly excited to take in this beautiful 12/13 year old boy. His previous owner does a lot of amazing environmental conservation work, and will be relocating across the country and unfortunately couldn't take this handsome fella with him. We look forward to this iguana becoming a valued and publicly loved reptile ambassador here with us. So everyone meet and saty hello to.... well he doesn't have a name yet. So maybe the public can help me out with that? Anyone have anty name suggestions, let me know and if i hear one i like, it'll be his name.

Type of lizard: Green iguana
