We spent 43 days on the road driving from Denver, CO to Alaska! And although we are cozy in our apartment now in Anchorage, I will take these memories with me forever. #queertravel #camperlifestyle #scamp #vanlifediaries by @luka_ismyname1

Scampin’ to Alaska update! 😻🐶🏄‍♂️ #Alaskabound #vanlife #vanlifediaries #travel #queer by @luka_ismyname1
Two years ago, I visited a special place that I just couldn’t stop thinking about. Shortly after, I visited two more times. The expansiveness, the people, the raw experiences of nature… And so I went back home to Denver. I was unsure about leaving the home city I grew up in, and the community I had built over so many years. • But I started working toward this place I couldn’t stop thinking about. Because something in me couldn’t stay. It was time to start creating distance from the four walls I grew up in. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Colorado, and I’ll always cherish my time there and what it taught me. • Each time I go home to my parents in Arvada, I hear a name that doesn’t fit me anymore, and my ears hear the sharp ring of the pronouns “she” and “her.” I won’t let go of the hope that they will come around, or maybe that we will be able to have better conversations around my gender identity in the future. • This isn’t why I’m leaving home, but in a way, it feels relieving to put some space between home and me. I briefly did this before, but it was short-lived. In just three weeks, I am starting my trek up to Anchorage, Alaska! I start a pediatric ICU position close to the end of October. • @thegoldonqueers , you did it. Your plan worked, and I can’t wait to join this community of queers up in Anchorage!!! I’m on the brink of an adventure that will chance my life, and it’s not all going to be rainbows and butterflies. But I welcome what this journey is going to do within me. • This summer, I’ve poured my time into renovating this little Scamp camper, which I’ll be able to take on a road trip out to the west coast of the lower 48. I’ll take a little over a month of a sabbatical to work my way up the coast, explore Canada, and make my way up to my new home 🤭 • It’s not goodbye forever. It’s see ya later ✌🏼 🤍 😆 🥹 🏔️ ILY all!!!!!!!! by @luka_ismyname1
I had the chance to photograph this Thailand boi’s @trovatrip and going back through the photos to edit them has been a journey I didn’t realize I needed. Seeing myself comfortable in my own skin, around others who are beginning to feel the same way, just hits different. I had the chance to celebrate 🏳️‍⚧️ day of visibility with these special people. I’ll never forget when we took that night swim in the ocean, and howled at the full moon 🌕 I also haven’t considered myself as much of an artist until recently. I’ve created a lot of rules for myself because of how I was raised, and this spills over into the things that I want to be playful, light and fun, such as photography. Meaning, I think way too hard about editing, how everything will be perceived online, etc., when, that’s not the point. The point is to express myself, and to capture my journey so others can see what is possible. Here’s to visibility! 🥳🦄 Follow along with my photography journey too! —> @photosby_luka by @luka_ismyname1
The Gay Agenda showed up! Fighting for my life in every single picture but I guess that’s an accurate representation of how this competition went! I’m so thankful for my partner in crime (and CrossFit) @luka_ismyname1 who inspires me to keep showing up even when it’s hard and I don’t think I can do it! I didn’t die so I’d call that a win for my first competition? 💙🩷 Thank you @tonycicconephotography for capturing all of my faces of determination and @rigar.performance.denver for being the best gym ever! by @luka_ismyname1
Just two pumpkin heads doing spoOky season things 🎃🧙🍂 Happy Halloween! @photosby_luka I’ve come to realize how much I love the art of photography, and am lucky to be in a season where I can explore my ideas (it was actually @bri_emily ‘s idea to do the pumpkin head trend 😍😘), let those ideas come to life, and learn from other photographers. In a world where AI can fabricate almost anything, we need art from real, authentic artists now more than ever. Have an idea for a creative photo shoot but don’t know how to make it come to life? I’d love to collaborate with you! Whether it’s capturing you in your element, taking silly pet or family photos, you name it. DM me here or on my photography page @photosby_luka 🤍 #pumpkinheads #spookyszn #queerphotographer #denverphotography #denverphotographer by @luka_ismyname1

📍Thailand — You’ve got my heart forever. Even though my time in Thailand was short, it was pure magic. I’ve never stepped foot in a place—let alone an entire country—and felt so completely safe, seen, and at peace. Thailand, you wrapped me in warmth I didn’t know I needed, and you’ll always hold a special place in my heart. One of the wildest and most beautiful parts? Getting to meet up with chosen family all the way across the world. @luka_ismyname1 Luka, from our first ladyboy experience to cruising the streets (and waters) of Thailand, I’ll never forget the laughter, the joy, and the pure freedom in those moments. So many more shared memories are on the horizon—and I’m counting down the days until March. This wasn’t goodbye. Just a “see you real soon.” 🩵✨🌏 #QueerAndHere #ChosenFamily #ThailandMagic #GrizzlyTravels by @luka_ismyname1
Today marks the end of your birth month, although I am by no means even close to being done celebrating you, who you are, and what you bring to this world (and my world) 🌎 I love you, boo 😘🤍😍 @bri_emily by @luka_ismyname1
July 22nd ~ aka “Luka Day” • It’s been two years since I legally changed my name. Two years of letting myself be Luka, two years of showing the world who Luka is, and two years of unlocking an experience of life that my inner child hadn’t encountered before. I had to work through my own B.S. to find myself and start taking myself seriously. And now I find myself surrounded by the most authentic, genuine souls. I am so grateful for those around me, and it will take a lifetime to repay them for the support they’ve given me through this also challenging season. • Last fall, I successfully completed one semester of a nursing PhD program at University of Colorado. However, toward the end of the semester, I hit rock bottom after feeling the toll of full-time school in addition to full-time nursing work on an inpatient oncology (cancer) unit. I then decided to step away from school, re-started therapy, and even took a partial leave from work to find my ground again. Though I unfortunately lost some friendships during the process, I walked out of that time with even deeper relationships with those who hung on and walked with me through it all. This summer, I was able to find an outpatient nursing position within the same hospital system, and it’s already giving me a better work-life balance. • Thanks for reading what turned into a Luka-life-update 😘 Stay curious, don’t ever stop speaking up for yourself, for those around you, and for the things that you notice need more awareness in this chaotic world. • Luka Grayson Neafsey • #transhealthcareishealthcare #protecttranskids #enby #nonbinary #wevealwaysbeenhere #manniversary #genderqueer #gayvisibility #transvisibility #outathlete #theoutfdn #outathletics #lgbtq #transenough #transvisibility #transmasc by @luka_ismyname1
