What do these folks do on a Monday night?

We get together over a few bites to and ask: How we better build our West Australian community?

What we keep hearing from our friends, colleagues and crew is a feeling of overstimulation and overwhelm with A.I driving our conversations. We crave more moments with real humans, over great food, music and conversation (sans emojis) 🤪

And the research backs it up too, in a recent study by UNSW, 43% of Australians experience some sort of lonlieness.

So what are we doing about it?

A few of us brought together by Lawson Flats have formed a committee a ‘Think and Do Tank’, we come up with wild ideas, we share stories on what we see in our travels and co-create with you, a space where we can,

It’s weird to think that I remember Racho starting her nursing career over 10 years ago, leaving her uni life behind. The days that were spent drinking in the back room of Sass & Bide to come and meet me at Mondo or Republic til 5am every weekend.

She dove headfirst into her career as a paediatric nurse at the kids hospital, donning her cute blue scrubs whilst earning her stripes on nearly every ward in the hospital, working the worst jobs at the dumbest hours of the day/night. The boys would know that Rach was on night shift because I would be peppering them to catch up because it’s against my religion to chill at home on my own.

Rach was committed and devoted to the lives of the children that she helped day in and day out, working her way up to ICU, and doing a post grad in critical care. I’ll never know how she made it through those years of intense emotional, physical and intellectual pressure, but I do know that the world is a better place thanks to nurses, especially ICU nurses.

It was around this time that my campaign to get Rach to spread her wings outside of the hospital began.

She ignored me and continued to climb the ranks, managing to graduate from icu into the anaesthetics department where she created her own procedural sedation service to help the most challenging kids throughout the hospital. Her latest role saw her reach a clinical nurse specialist level in the central vascular access department, performing the most difficult lines and procedures. Shoutout to Vicki & Deb!

Now a decade later, with a graduate diploma in cosmetic nursing, the amazing, beautiful, talented, caring enigma that is Rach has finally caved to my campaign and is opening the next chapter - her very own injectables clinic in South Freo with her p.i.c Ash. A sanctuary of well-being and bubbles conveniently located near pubs, wine bars and restaurants in god’s country. A one stop shop for botox, haytox, brotox and everything else needed to keep me looking 25. If there’s anyone guaranteed to make you look and feel like the best version of yourself, it’s Ash & Rach.
