Lucky enough to have a giant mulberry tree in the backyard and Mulberry season takes me right back to growing up in Kansas on Mulberry Street! Every bite sends me directly to 1984! by @lululand13
Happy New Year, y’all. It’s been quite a year. Did chemo, lost a bunch of hair and my dreads needed to go, sadly. I am still struggling on multiple autoimmune fronts, but will persevere. Social media gives me the ick lately. It doesn’t mean I don’t love you. Yeah, you. 💕 by @lululand13

Round 3 today of Cytoxan this morning. Halfway through! I have lost all of my eyelashes but my hair is still hanging on for now. Probably headed for a big chop! #igan #iganephropathy by @lululand13
My heart. ❤️ by @lululand13
Chemo dose one is already in the books. Next dose, Christmas Eve. The holidays are a little weird this year, but I am focused on stabilizing my labs and everything else is just extra. Merry Ho Ho to all who are feeling more Christmassy than I this season. I am with you in spirit this year, if not action. I put up some cute lights and decorated inside a little, but I did not drag the little tree out because I don’t know that I’ll have the energy to put it all back in a few weeks. I’ll take what I can get. I’m ready for a cozy and illuminated holiday, just sans our usual tree. 😆🎄 by @lululand13
LIFE UPDATE: For over almost two years, I have been really tired. Like REALLY tired. I honestly just thought that the stress of being a caregiver and working in conjunction with my existing health issues was the culprit. Unfortunately, I was wrong. In retrospect, this has been going on for over a decade. Several weird and seemingly unconnected symptoms over the course of this year ultimately pointed us in one clinical direction. I had a kidney biopsy a few weeks ago and I have been diagnosed with IgAN or Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy. This is a rare kidney disease where your body produces too much immunoglobulin A and it screws up your kidneys. Unfortunately, I have an exceedingly rare type of IgAN with a proliferation of “crescents” and this is not ideal. We have to be aggressive now. I will be starting chemotherapy for 12 weeks as soon as my insurance approves it. It was supposed to start last week, but it hasn’t been approved yet and the holiday was shitty timing. The hair is probably going to go. I am also on high dose daily prednisone (again), which does seem to be helping, at least. (Even if I can feel myself swelling as I type this. lol.) Anyway, that’s why I haven’t been around. I didn’t realize how effing tired I was. Listen to your body. I didn’t. So, that is where I am at. You have now all been updated. I’m currently prepping for battle and I would love to have you in my cheering section. Let’s fucking go!!💪 #igan #iganephropathy #crescenticglomerulonephritis by @lululand13
