Sitting down to write this post filled me with a lot of anxiety, but I wholeheartedly believe in the power of sharing our stories. This is what my song, loud, is about. In my senior year of high school, I was diagnosed with OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), along with social anxiety and depression. I am often hesitant to share this because of the misconceptions surrounding the disorder. OCD is a mental health condition that affects about 1 in 40 adults from all walks of life (IOCDF). While OCD is often misunderstood as simply a personality trait, the disorder occurs when a person gets caught in a cycle of obsessions and compulsions that often consume large amounts of time. I believe that we can all play a part in ending the stigma around mental health by learning and sharing. If you would like to learn more about OCD, I have linked the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF)’s website in my bio @iocdf 💚 I wrote loud about my experience of OCD. I wanted to capture the feeling of having the disorder, which I hope speaks to whoever listens to this song, whether they have OCD or not. Sharing this song feels like sharing a piece of my heart. If you are reading this or listen to my song, thank you. I hope it speaks to you the way it does to me. loud will be out on August 30th, and none of it would be possible without people near and dear to my heart… @leilanijpatao Working with you has been a dream come true. You always see my vision and help me execute it beyond what I ever imagined. Thank you for allowing me to be vulnerable and helping me get loud 📣 @nicktrujillo The first time I saw you perform, I was absolutely blown away by your talent and unique sound. Thank you for shredding on this one, you killed it🎸 @misterexploder I admire your creativity as a musician and as a person (Tommy developed a really dope app BTW). Thank you for bringing this song to life with your mad drumming skills 🥁 @lily.hotchkiss You are my forever cheerleader and were loud for me, before I could be loud for myself ❤️ @noahkahanmusic You inspired me to open up and share this song with the world. Thank you for your openness and beautiful soul 🐞🐛 xx LB by @lunablackledge
So I wrote a song… My song is called 24, and it is dedicated to my dear cousin Hanna. She is my angel, my hero, and the brightest light in my life. 🤍🪽 There are so many people who have been a part of this journey, and every one of them has helped bring this song to life. ❤️ Hanna has been by my side every step of the way, and I love and miss her so much. @lily.hotchkiss Mom, you are my best friend, my inspiration, and the reason I am breathing. @jennatay30 Jay, I am so lucky to have met you and to have you in my life. You are the kindest, most incredible friend I could ever ask for. @leilanijpatao Leilani, when you reached out to me to work on music together, I was so honored. You poured your heart and soul into producing this song, and I could not be more grateful. I can’t wait to make more music with you. @natyew_ Nat, you are such a talented musician and drummer, and you brought a whole new energy to this song, pulling all the pieces together. @nninaevans Nina, you are an exceptionally talented photographer and went above and beyond to capture my vision for this album cover. @brennans_harmonica_account Brennan, you are one of the most thoughtful people I know, and your graciousness in letting me turn our closet into a recording studio meant the absolute world to me. I am so proud of this song, and I can’t wait to share it. 🤍 24, will be in the world on May 9th! The pre-save link is in my bio. 🤍 All my love, LB by @lunablackledge
