Sorry for the false start.

Take care everyone x by @lunaleeflowerfarm

UPDATE OCT- due to sudden changes in work commitments, 2025 will wind down early for me.. limited numbers available or as grown time permitting. Sorry everyone.. time to break rest and plan 2026.

With much excitement I think it’s finally time to offer locally grown roses from the farm! 🌹
•
After a few years starting with just a handful, then adding more.. planting, digging and replanting them - not by preference I assure you! I’m at the point where they’ve had a light winter prune and I feel there’s enough maturing that it’s time to make them available.
•
If you know of anyone who might be interested.. please let me know and I can pop in for a visit, or share it direct to them. I’d be grateful for either!
•
Perfect for cake bakers, makers, decorators… homemakers, candlemakers, florists and anyone who has a use for roses or petals.
•
We don’t use any chemical sprays so they’re perfect for decorating or adding to bouquets.
•
Whilst I call them garden roses, don’t let that deter you - unlike cut flowers / florist roses they only last days but in turn are sweet, honest, wholesome and most importantly, almost all of the varieties we planted have scent!
•
They are local roses grown not to be stored and shipped but cut on order for maximum freshness and enjoyed in the here and the now.
•
Now onto the nitty gritty.. the finer details.
•
Supply, colour and numbers will always vary from week to week, month to month.. as will stem lengths available as our plants continue to establish and mature with time. We’re still small and getting going.. we have room (and many dreams) for expansion if there’s demand..
•
Once weekly I’ll update a pinned post with anticipated upcoming stems, colours etc - including any flowers available on farm going forward.. please note we are going into summer a time of less than ideal growing conditions.. it’s getting hot so fast 🫣 so I anticipate limited supply. Rose petals likely always available in some capacity or another.
•
Any enquiries, questions etc please reach out.. I’d love to chat further.

Sarah. by @lunaleeflowerfarm

Hello! It’s been a minute for sure since I did a bit of an intro about who we are and just what we’re trying to do here on the farm.

This is Turtle the cattle corgi cross.. one of our beloved dogs who call this place paradise. I’m Sarah, the crazy human who is building from the ground up a small cut flower farm. Not pictured cause she was snoozing is Luna red cattle dog and the name sake behind ‘Luna Lee’

We’ve been trialling and testing different flowers and plants, methods and madness over the last couple of years to get a better idea on what works and what won’t (for us!).

As we wind down one part of the business in ‘25, 2026 is when we will finally go into growing flowers on a larger scale - and goodness am I excited about it!!!

I’ve spent the last couple of years building up a body of garden roses.. I’ll go more into them another time, but they are stunning! We will have them available, along with gerberas and seasonal annuals.

To round out I also got busy and have set aside an acre or two of foliage trees.. local fresh cut greenery to compliment our blooms once they mature.

It certainly does feel a little bit like herding ducks or pulling the threads into a semblance of order. I’ve still got some errant ones to gather in - think paperwork, branding, technology etc… stuff my partner will be helping with soon thank goodness.. or some wet season down time maybe?

Being I’m happiest at home in the paddocks, I’m focusing on wholesale / limited retail.. some people are AMAZING at arranging and interacting with people.. I’m not to be blunt.. so for me, I’ll leave the showcasing of flowers to those most able to.

‘25 will wind down with limited blooms available… ‘26 though we will grow! I hope you’ll join us on our journey of flower farming and all that it brings. by @lunaleeflowerfarm

Weekly availabilities - as we round out this year, keep an eye to the stories on weekly availability of flowers grown right here.
•
Numbers vary, colours vary, stem lengths vary from week to week.
•
With time, I’ll get to an email listing and the like.. these days, in this moment, this season I’m all hands on deck in the paddocks- so I’m thinking it may be a wet season job?
•
Delivery to Townsville Friday morning. I can also do a Monday or Tuesday run each week pending numbers.
•
Collection available from a Garbutt address with prior arrangement most days for small orders. by @lunaleeflowerfarm

Fresh flower 🌸 drop.
Our beautiful friends at @lunaleeflowerfarm have been supplying us each week with some beautiful flower 💐 bunches for you to take home. We are also excited to have fresh blooms for decoration too. Grown local, freshly delivered and oh so pretty ✨🌸🌙
Fresh flower bunches for purchase will be available on Friday 🤩 by @lunaleeflowerfarm

Week 28, end of.
•
Not quite sure where the week went.. nor can you see much trace of it out in the paddocks.
•
Wasn’t on site much.. second week in a row and it’s been a nice change. Love the work, love seeing the buildings go up.. hate the driving to and from every day.
•
Even at home though, I still didn’t get much done with the flowers due to working elsewhere.
•
I did get some flowers picked and to town. Hopefully some samples go out this week sometime.. not much else sadly - no weeding or bed making.
•
Began prepping two beds last thing Sunday/today, it was almost dark. Hay, manure and tarping tomorrow (last day home 😞)
•
Weekly Sunflowers seeded.. test seeded existing zinnia seeds. Looks like only two colours are viable so may be doing seed shopping round two for summer seeds. Received order from Highsun of marigolds and thought that was it!
•
Cover crop seed ordered.. trialling living mulch and green manure for future beds.
•
Milking cow arrived! Pikachu.. and no I didn’t name her 😂
•
Statice is starting to bud up. Last of the small stock planting is winding down.. scabiosa coming along well still. by @lunaleeflowerfarm

Ok.. let’s pretend it’s Sunday. Not Monday (typing on Monday night late!). It feels like a Sunday - hello local show holiday (Monday!) making it feel like a Sunday.. ‘cause work tomorrow.
•
I’ve often thought about doing a week that was, week that hopefully will be posts. I know I do stories for the simplicity (and disappearance of what is typed sometimes too 😂) which leaves the posts looking a bit like a greyhound - lean and leggy.
•
So! The ending of week 27..
didn’t it end with some wind 🫣. Well here it has. Most of this week was spent off site, so I got a bit done. Grandma is in care, the best place she can be just now. I got some trees in the ground and my seedling table is almost entirely full! Such a wonderful feeling.
•
Sunflower successions continue. Another two beds turned and ready to be covered for planting this week once the wind settles.
•
Dahlia seedlings are coming along nicely. 500 odd seedlings aka - the great dahlia lottery, are in trays. What will they be is the question? 500 single yellow dahlias for the bees to romance… or even better, some beautiful decoratives for cut flowers 🤞
•
A couple of hours went into the roses today.. need desperately to get them all completely pruned.. just a solid weeks worth to get them to where I want them 😮‍💨. It’ll be worth every moment though!
•
Florists visited.. always so nerve wracking! They are always lovely, but trying to be someone you’re not often is awkward. From some wonderful discussion I’ll start planning an availability post/email each week - for the first few.. sunflowers, sunflowers and some more sunflowers! 🌻
•
Gerbera’s weeded.. lots of weeding and mulching ahead. Also first Gerbera seedlings have germinated. How exciting!
•
Definitely more happened.. but you get the gist of the above.. a post to assess what was, a catch up over a cuppa - literally always over a cuppa.. always. by @lunaleeflowerfarm

Slowly but surely we’re picking back up and getting going again.
•
A small amount of seedlings went out last week.. another three trays of sunnies mid week.. 8 trays this weekend, all freeing up almost every tray for a mass seeding.
•
A friend has always been telling me to plant by the moon. He’s indulged me plenty of times at work, so I promised I’d do so next time - this time being Sunday! Saturday to prune more roses.. and Sunday nursing my cuts and planting seeds.
•
The aim is to fill the seedling table up as the beds are being made ready to accommodate them. Still plenty of work ahead to get to cut flowers ready to sell.
•
Excitedly, we do have sunflowers in succession… 5 weeks worth so far meaning a steady supply of them. Small wins just now 😊

Hello!!
•
First post up for 2026.. you could excuse me for snoozing on the job 🫣😂 but in reality the year hasn’t quite kicked off how I’d hoped it would.
•
It was to be a year of almost full time flower farming.. alas another year of working in town is afoot with side hustle flower farming. It had me down and in a rut, I won’t lie about how disheartening it is.. but loyalty to family will come first, thus here we go with growing what I can, when I can, however I can.
•
On the other hand, I also have a love for my grandma who recently had to make the difficult move into aged care.. a small room on the third floor. She adores flowers, and I adore her so I had to drag my butt up off the ground and get to! She is the most beautiful, kind, caring and deserving lady I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting so growing her flowers is the least I could do!
•
The surplus? Keep an eye out on stories for any flowers available as the year goes on. We certainly will have flowers available, not the range or volume id planned for, but most certainly something.
•
With that, I have to keep prepping seed trays, as they won’t prep themselves! I’ll aim to get some stories and further posts up.
•
Till then, all the best! Xx by @lunaleeflowerfarm

Stock, sunnies and a straw hat. Tonight I cut some statice to go with it and bunch them for tomorrow!

I’m so keen for next year just now.. just a handful of stock this season because I was so behind in seeding with everything going on.

We’ve gone from a coolish winter, a day or two of spring… well, maybe you could call it spring? Now we’re into the early days of summer. The days are just warming and I’ve still not seeded warm season seeds!!! 🫣🫣😭😩

I’ll get some happening (think zinnias, marigolds, sunnies etc) over the next few days for sure!! That said, I’m also accepting the rest of this year will be primarily focused on getting the roses, Gerbera’s and trees settling and happy… some more infrastructure in place to help save some time..

Also it won’t be long and it’ll no longer be an ‘I’ and a proper ‘us’ with Nathan stepping in to join me. The page turns to a new adventure and I truely can’t wait! by @lunaleeflowerfarm

What a week! It’s been a mile a minute getting off the farm, down to family near Gatton and then all the run about - now, though, we strapped the Ute down and headed on the first leg home.

It’s always exciting to get here, adventures and fun times coming and going, then the anticipation of going home before transitioning into sadness of saying good bye for a while to family.

This trip truely was a short sharp bustling one.. and hopefully well worth it.

We come home with the last of this years tubestock trees to be planted out over the coming months.. and plenty of Gerbera’s for the new flower paddock after we lost so much this year. New paddock, new start!

I already have awaiting me roses to plant.. the first job Tuesday morning. Then into the Gerbera’s that were potted. They’re in transport in mini snail wraps for moisture.

It’ll be a busy week! Anyone looking for a few days work planting and prepping hit me up! Or if you know anyone… I’m all ears! by @lunaleeflowerfarm

One foot in front of the other.. ideally, I tell myself, two forward and one back and not the opposite!

Yesterday I stood back and decided it was definitely two steps forward as we got the last row under irrigation and thus a leap forward in encouragement to keep at it.

It’s been a slog. I’m not as far along as I’d hoped but we’ve made some progress at the least.

🌹 almost every rose has been relocated to one place, one space, one watering line. Bliss!!

🌹 final order of 2025 is in the mail.. we finished transplanting and counting spaces and put in a final rose order to fill the last row out. All selected with an emphasis on cutting stem length. They’ll come into full steam in another year or two once they establish.

🍃 the test foliage trees are growing. Some damages from wildlife. Others didn’t like our extended wet season, some I’ve replaced. The next expansion has been growing at the nursery and we collect them next week!

💐 we finally have a dedicated, nominated area with semi permanent beds for annual and short term perennials. Nothing long term (like trees) in this area.. but everything else is possible! The best part - drainage!! We were still bogging at home when we could put tractors over this paddock. It’s fenced in.. permanent water to it.. a dream to work with.

There’s other bits and pieces but those are huge to me. Lots of little strings slowly steadily pulling together.

Now I’ve been told I need to get the socials happening.. consistent and promote. All very true I know.. So here we are on the eve of going to Brisbane getting a bit of a catch up out there.

Keep an eye out on stories this week for updates! by @lunaleeflowerfarm
