Hi there, I’m Lakota Carter, creator & Doula of Lunar Bear Doula🌕🐻

Nearly five years ago, my life changed in a single moment when I found out I was expecting twins. What followed was a pregnancy harder than anything I could have ever prepared for. I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, felt completely overwhelmed, and experienced a deep, heavy loneliness. I didn’t know how to navigate the system, so I set my own intuition aside and just did whatever I was told, feeling like I had no real voice or options.
When my water broke two months early, I spent four days in the hospital before bringing my sweet boys into the world. That birth transformed me forever. It was terrifying, powerful, and beautiful all at once. I discovered a level of strength in myself I didn’t know existed but because I had to be my own researcher, teacher, and support system, the journey felt painfully isolating.
After birth came a 32 day NICU stay. In those walls, I learned to advocate fiercely for my premature babies. I absorbed every drop of knowledge I could from the lactation consultants, nurses, doctors, and therapists around us.
Looking back, I wish so deeply that I’d had someone in my corner someone reminding me to trust my body, helping me understand my choices, and simply standing by me so I didn’t have to carry it all alone.

That is why Lunar Bear Doula exists.

Supporting mothers is my soul work. You deserve a village, robust resources, unshakeable support, and someone to witness the absolute triumph of your birth. Whether you’re preparing for birth, navigating the postpartum transition, exploring herbal support, seeking placenta encapsulation, or wanting to preserve your birth experience with art. I’m here to make sure you never have to walk this path feeling alone or unheard.
I’m 28, living and serving families here in Utah County, and I am so excited to be in this community and serve women in the most profound experience of life.

Some easy grab and go postpartum, pregnancy or lactation assisting energy and protein balls. I love how you can really implement whatever you have on hand in these. They are simple and so easy for moms to just grab during late night feeds or busy days. I had these items on hand so I threw them in and loved how they turned out. What kind of things do you enjoy adding for extra nutrients in quick snacks? 😁 by @lunarbeardoula

There is something so special about preparing to meet your baby.

There can also be so much uncertainty.

You’re preparing for a birth you’ve never experienced before, learning about your body, wondering what labor will feel like, thinking about breastfeeding, postpartum, recovery and trying to take in so much information all at once.

This is a big part of why I became a doula.

I want to be someone you can come to with your questions, your hopes, your fears, and even the things you aren’t quite sure how to put into words yet. Someone to help you prepare, but also someone to remind you that you already carry so much wisdom within you.

And once your baby arrives, I want that care to continue.

Postpartum deserves tenderness too. You deserve to be nourished, cared for, listened to, and given space to become a mother without feeling like you have to immediately have everything figured out.

I’m beginning to welcome clients with January 2027 due dates.

If you’re expecting your first baby, or you’re preparing to welcome another little one and feel called to have more support this time around, I would love to hear from you.

Send me a message and tell me a little about yourself, let’s connect🫶🐻🌙 by @lunarbeardoula

Your placenta carried a purpose, you get to choose what happens to it after birth.

For some mothers, reclaiming their placenta is a meaningful way to honor the organ that supported their baby throughout pregnancy.

At Lunar Bear Doula, I offer personalized placenta care including encapsulation, tinctures, & custom placenta prints. If you’d like to preserve and honor your breast milk, umbilical cord or placenta I also offer birth flower stained glass pieces with the above placed gently between two pieces of glass. Something that can be passed down for generations.

If you’re a pregnant or postpartum mom wanting to honor all of the work your body has done, send me a message and I’d love to create for you.
