Hank and Heidi from @luvinarms 🐷🐷🥰 In the words of @clawdialifton : "Hank and Heidi (who shows up at the end of this video to cause pure chaos) are the bravest heroes I've ever met. They jumped off a moving transport truck to save their own lives. Today they're safe at @luvinarms , and they'll spend the rest of their days rooting in the grass, taking mud baths, and playing with their friends. That jump was the first time they had ever seen sunlight or breathed fresh air. They were born in a giant industrial shed, where their mother spent her entire life in a crate too small to even turn around in (look up "farrowing crate"). They lived on metal slats, covered in their own waste. Their tails and the sharp tips of their teeth were cut off without anesthesia, to stop them from hurting each other out of the boredom and stress of those conditions. They were on that truck headed to another warehouse, to be fattened on corn and soy before slaughter at just six months old. The animals we eat are babies. Hank and Heidi had only just finished nursing. If they hadn't jumped, their next and final glimpse of sunlight would have come on the way to the slaughterhouse. There, they would have been gassed, or hung upside down by their hind legs to have their throats slit. Many pigs don't lose blood fast enough to die first, and are boiled alive in the tanks meant to remove their hair. If this makes you sad, uncomfortable, or angry then you already understand veganism. Industrial animal agriculture is the most significant ethical catastrophe in human history, and we all pay for it to continue with every meal. The good news? It doesn't have to be this way! There are so many other options for us to choose from that don't cause unfathomable suffering, destroy our planet, and make us sick. One of the most powerful opportunities we have to live by our values, or betray them, lies in the food we put on our plates." 🦃Last November, Riya and Diya were rescued by Humane Long Island from a live animal market in New York City. At these markets, birds are sold to customers and often slaughtered on-site. Riya and Diya were fortunate to make it out alive, but they still needed a permanent home. We knew we wanted to welcome them to Luvin Arms. Getting them here, though, turned out to be more complicated than we expected. Weather, precautions around avian flu, and staffing challenges delayed their journey while we worked with Humane Long Island to arrange safe transportation. Finally, in July, two members of our team flew to New Jersey, met Riya and Diya, and drove them all the way home to Colorado. After months of planning, they were finally here. Riya and Diya are still settling in, and we're learning more about their personalities, preferences, and relationships. One detail that was easy to notice is that Diya has two different-colored eyes, a condition called heterochromia. Look closely and you'll see that one of her eyes is blue! For Riya and Diya, life is very different from what it would have been. It's because of supporters like you that we can give them and others the opportunity to live the lives they deserve. Welcome home, Riya and Diya. ❤️ by @luvinarms
✨ INTRODUCING LUCKY'S VEGAN NIGHT AT MAINSTAGE BREWING! ✨ We're excited to announce a new monthly collaboration between Flora + Fauna Experiences, MainStage Brewing, and Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary! Join us for our inaugural Lucky's Vegan Night on Sunday, November 22, celebrating vegan food, community, and compassion! 💚 Special Vegan Menu: MainStage will offer a special vegan menu throughout the entire day! 💚 Eat Vegan, Give Back: 10% of sales from vegan menu items will be donated directly to Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary. 💚 Meet Lucky: Lucky's incredible story began before he was even born. His mother, who was being raised for slaughter on a ranch, was killed by wolves while pregnant. Lucky was pulled from her womb and miraculously survived. As he grew, Lucky was eventually moved to a property in Lyons, where he lived alone beside a popular walking path. He would run along the fence, seeking attention from passersby, and soon became a beloved member of the community. When residents learned Lucky was scheduled for slaughter in November 2021, they rallied to save his life, raising funds and working with Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary to bring him to safety. Today, Lucky lives at Luvin Arms, a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to choose compassion. 📅Sunday, November 22 | 11 AM–8 PM 📍MainStage Brewing | Lyons, CO Dine in anytime during regular business hours! Stop by for lunch, dinner, or whenever works for you. Our goal is to make Lucky's Vegan Night a monthly tradition on the fourth Sunday of every month! Let's show up for this first event, support MainStage for offering more vegan options, and demonstrate the power of our compassionate community. A strong turnout will help us keep this going every month! ❤️ Let's make our inaugural Lucky's Vegan Night a success! 🔗Learn more about Flora + Fauna Experiences: floraandfaunaexperiences.com by @luvinarms
Today is #WorldVeganDay and to me, today is a day of reflection, compassion, and recognizing that we are not the only ones who call this beautiful planet our home. As I spend time with Tito here on @luvinarms and listen to @cjtaylorx tell his beautiful story, I’m reminded of something so profoundly simple, yet so often overlooked: animals want to live, just like you and I. They want to experience love, form relationships, feel safe, and live their lives in peace. As a gentle reminder, I want to kindly remind you all that animals are not commodities, possessions, or property placed here for our convenience and exploitation. No.. they are not. What they are, however, is individuals.. yeah, individuals.. who are our neighbors.. our fellow earthlings.. our fellow creations, each with a life that matters deeply to them, regardless of the value we attempt to place upon it. - Dom ❤️✌🏽 by @luvinarms
Anyone who works with animals knows that the hardest part is having to say goodbye. Whether it’s a slow decline or a sudden, unexpected illness, nothing can prepare you for the moment you have to let them go. The past several months, we have had many hard goodbyes. While we continue to mourn them, we also want to celebrate and honor their lives and how much they gave to us. Jared- our sweet governor, who never lost his spark despite lifelong challenges. We miss your steady presence and desire for love, thank you for trusting us and teaching us about perseverance and kindness 🧡 Eileen- Perfect Eileen, we are heartbroken that we only got to know you for two years, but your courage and intelligence will live with us forever. Thank you for showing us that strength isn’t always physical, and that love is stronger than anything 🩷 Cleo- Mighty Cleo, our house cat and constant companion through neverending changes, losing you was a stab to the heart that still hasn’t lessened. We’ll never forget how you hopped from lap to lap during meetings and lunches. Thank you for every nuzzle and cuddle, you never ceased to remind us why we do what we do 💜 by @luvinarms
