POSTS STORIES REELS
yet again late to posting but i finally got the pictures back from the premiere performance of Minotaur In Flight that was produced by @carmen.d.foster at the @cincyfringe in June! this show has come such a long way since i started writing it in 2024. i have always loved the labyrinth and its stories, and i needed to write some way for the creature at its center to find a way out! it brings me so much joy to reframe and recontextualize these classic stories, to make them strange and queer and unexpectedly fresh. i am so proud of what this became, a story of love and friendship and what happens when we let ourselves be ruled by fear. i could not have dreamed of a more perfect production for this show! y'all blew my socks off! thank you so much for making this happen. i am so so grateful to the cast and crew for putting so much work into my words. you all found things in this story and these characters that i never thought of, and getting to see it fresh through your eyes, and embodied so beautifully, is such a wonderful gift! a special additional thank you to carmen. i am so in awe of your talent as a director, as a producer, as an actor, as everything. you're genuinely the coolest ever, i am so glad to know you, and i can't wait to collaborate with you again!!! more details/commentary in individual captions! ICARUS AND THE MINOTAUR ARE IN LOVE ‼️ this picture is one of my favorites i LOVE the way this mask is designed. @kalli_langdon knocked it OUT OF THE PARK daedalus and minos these wings made me GASP when i first saw them extended what an awesome moment of spectacle daedalus and the creature he built the labyrinth for wholesome father-daughter moments with minos and asteria 🤩 promises, promises actually wholesome father-daughter moments ❤️‍🔥 make sure to brush your minotaur! warnings fun fact! i built the bird puppet the minotaur is holding in about an hour and a half with just some cardboard, a handful of feathers, and a plastic water bottle for that convincing neck snap! caught between red strings of fate SELFIE OF ME AND MY OCS red carpet glam :) 🐮 🐮 a moment for my thrifted suit and thematically cohesive bolo tie my first waf by @luzpearll

it was such an honor to be an intern for the 29th Annual Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed Conference this past week! i truly believe this is the kind of work that theater does at its best, starting conversations and helping to facilitate change in our communities and our minds. i feel so lucky to have gotten to see performances from Brass Solidarity and Zamya Theater Project, and i learned so much in the workshops and in the post-conference with Julian Boal! i'm so excited to keep learning about PTO and to take some of these strategies and practices into my own theater work (and my upcoming artist-activist residency 🤫) thank you so much to everyone who was a part of this experience!!! by @luzpearll

static has been the most precious project to me for the past four months (or three years, depending on how you look at it.) i am so proud of this story. i am so proud of these actors, this team, my co-writer and my friends, who put up with me disappearing from the face of the earth all winter to work on this. this story is a love letter to those who have struggled to bloom where they are planted, in places that work against our growth. this exploration of grief and queerness and the ways that we remain static has become something bigger than i ever imagined it to be, and thanks to the money that our fantastic audiences raised for @tctransmutualaid , it has been able to help in a genuinely tangible way. if this show impacted you at all, please continue to support that cause! to everyone who helped on this project- THANK YOU. i can never thank you enough for all the late nights and hard work and hot glue burns it took to get this together. i have never loved the collaborative process more than i did working on this project. to doc- stuck in your head, and preconceived ideas of what certain people should be. i can't wait to see how you grow. to susanna- your kindness and humor are a gift, and one that is cherished. those around you feel in your actions, louder than words, how they are loved. to phil- you are joy. you are so cool. let that shine, leather jacket or not. to maren- your heart is so big, and your patience is so strong. sing it out, honeybee. your songs do what they're meant to, even if it's not what you intended. to joan- it's all so much. i know. but you are strong, and you made it out!! and there is so much waiting for you. you don't need to be anything different from who you are. to lewis- deep breaths. you can make it, on your own. you're never really on your own, anyway, and there is so much love waiting for you, when you clear the static from your head, and set down your heavy head, to hear what is around you. 🛸🌻🐝 by @luzpearll

i genuinely can't express enough how life-changing the New South Young Playwrights Festival at Horizon Theatre was for me!! i spent the most amazing week with so many talented playwrights, mentors, and artists. i have never felt so supported in my craft as a writer than that week, and i am so incredibly grateful for all that i learned! i got to have a reading by professional actors of my play MINOTAUR IN FLIGHT, which was so exciting and helpful- i can't wait to keep working on it!! I also wrote and had a staged reading of a brand new short play, Snake In The Machine. we got to see incredible local theater in Atlanta, too! i have such a fire under me after this experience and i'm so happy to keep writing and creating with all of the lovely people i met!! thank you so much to my mentors, and Horizon Theatre especially 💘💘💘 by @luzpearll
