Can’t Find My Way Home - Blind Faith 🎸 🎵

I was reminded of this great song when I was watching the series Three Body Problem. When debating between doing a more shreddy electric cover and something stripped back, the classical guitar on the original track and its whimsical nature caught my ear. I hope you enjoy 💛☺️💛

The beauty of guitar is the constant challenge it provides. There is no limit to the nuance and mastery one can strive towards. Slowly but surely making progress on Sea Dragon 🐉 by @covetband⁣

Yesterday I celebrated my second birthday confined to bed. I’ve been too ill to give a proper health update so I will do my best while also trying to celebrate the little pieces of beauty and love woven into each day. Most of these photos represent when I could still move upright, uncollared, without crippling symptoms.

My spinal cord is confirmed retethered for a third time and has been so since 3-4 weeks after my second tethered cord release which in the words of my world-class neurosurgeon is “unprecedented”. This means once again my brain is being pulled to the base of my skull and I’m accruing a progressive multi-level spinal cord injury along with Intracranial Hypertension. In practice, I am again stuck in bed 22+ hours/day with severe CNS pain and neurological deficits. Rapid muscle wasting in my limbs, loosing the ability to walk, inability to sit up meaningful periods of time or without debilitating pain/feeling like fainting, vertebrae in my spine dislocating, and 80+ other constant symptoms. My nerve roots have clumped together and the surgeons I’ve consulted are wary of the possibility of adhesive arachnoiditis which rivals conditions like CRPS on the McGill Pain Scale and can lead to paralysis in severe cases.

On April 21st I underwent my third major neurosurgery in less than a year and fifth out of state medical procedure. It is possible I may be headed into a fourth neurosurgery. May is Ehlers Danlos Syndrome awareness month. At some other point I think I will be ready to talk about the trauma and pain that has led up to these surgeries but for now I want to focus on some things that simply haven’t been possible for me in over a year and a half:

-I went out of my house for a non medical reason multiple times (to eat with friends) 🍲

-Even though my NYC neurologist backed out on me calling my case too complex, I still got to see some of the Big Apple albeit in a wheelchair and in significant pain 🗽 🍎

-I’ve been able to go to a friend’s house and even have friends over without seizure like episodes even if it requires meticulous preparation and rest 🏡

-I’ve been able to play music on my lyre laying on my back in bed and slowly have started singing more & planning to publish a poetry book (and eventually my unreleased EP prod. by @walkerlukens & @granteppley) 🎸 📝

-These trials have re-validated again and again that I have the best friends in the world 👩‍❤️‍👩

I’ve been out of the fire and into the frying pan so I’ll leave y’all with this quote from Gandalf 🧙‍♂️ ~

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” - J.R.R. Tolkien

I have some serious news to share about health (elaborated above). In short, I am suffering from severe craniocervical instability which is damaging my brainstem and spinal cord. This has left me disabled and unable to do the most basic tasks for myself. Highly specialized neurosurgery is needed to treat this condition.

I dream of making music again and being able to live life in a better capacity. As such, I am asking for help in affording critical surgery. A GoFundMe has been started at the link in my bio. Any help is deeply appreciated 💛 I miss you all but know I will get through this💛
