Weekend recap! Thanks for you to my tribe and those who inspire me to be a better version of myself! This weekend was very special; on Saturday @mr_repertoire, @julianadaniella, @pamelagrace___, @maagotitgoinon and a friend took my sister Olga out for her Birthday. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend, so Marceline decided to cook dinner on Sunday to help us to celebrate Mother’s Day! Julia ran the errands with Maa and @robersonbienaime help to sponsor the dinner. My cousin Marie Carmelle Houanche came by with gifts and Jon provided desert! My sweet neighbor Sandy surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, my mom favorite color, I was very touched by her gesture. Dinner was delicious and the table looked awesome! Check out the mini vlog. Needless to say that I am deeply touched and grateful for all of the small gestures and messages that I received from all of you! I hope you have a blessed week! #blessed #mothersdayspecial❤️ #grateful #lovemytribe by @madebyemmeline1

It is week night and we are outside! My daughter Julia, @julianadaniella, invited me to attend the New York Liberty’s Season Members Reception last night. What a great time we had, I have not been to that neighborhood in Brooklyn for years. I truly felt like a tourist. The atmosphere was truly joyful and the representatives were welcoming and attentive. We really felt special! The staff member at the place were so nice. I thank Julia for kicking off my birthday week with a great night on the town. We got to do this more often! Enjoy the rest of your week everyone! Stay blessed!

A meltdown is not simply a child being difficult. It can happen when a child becomes overwhelmed by sensory input, frustration, changes, or emotions they cannot easily communicate.

In these moments, connection matters more than correction. 💙

Here’s how parents can help:
• Stay calm and use fewer words.
• Reduce noise, bright lights, and other triggers when possible.
• Give the child space and prioritize safety.
• Allow time to recover without shame or punishment.

Every child’s needs are different. Look for patterns and work together with professionals when additional support is needed.

Let’s replace judgment with compassion and curiosity.

Share this reminder with someone who wants to better understand autistic children.

Not every child communicates in the same way, and that’s okay. 💙

A point, a gesture, a picture card, a sign, a communication device, or a spoken word can all help a child express their needs and feelings.

As parents and caregivers, we can support communication by:
• Giving children time to respond.
• Offering simple choices.
• Paying attention to their gestures and expressions.
• Celebrating their efforts without pressuring them to speak.

Every child deserves to have their voice respected—even when that voice looks different from what we expect.

Leave a 💙 if you believe every child deserves to be heard and understood.

I found this old post and wanted to reshare! I am now 67 and I am proud to say as immigrant children my siblings and me have contributed more to this society than some of the Native in this country! I came to New York at the age of 14 went to school and spent 35 years as an educator. I starts working at the age of 16 while attending school. My mother was a widower by the time she was 49 and raised us to be professionals, all seven of us! Nothing was given to us for free, we all have professional degrees. We are proud of our contribution to the United States! We are Haitian proud and Haitian strong!🇭🇹 by @madebyemmeline1
