Learning as I grow ✨️

Hi, I’m Madeleine 🌱

A learner gardener growing things in my suburban Scottish garden — weather permitting 🌧 🌩
A space for slow growth, small wins, and figuring it out as I go. Some plants thrive, some fail miserably, and some quietly remind me who’s really in charge (usually the weather).

If you’re learning as you grow too, you’re very welcome here 🤍

What is your favourite thing to grow?🍅🌺🥬

I'm not sure at what stage in life I developed a favourite bumblebee...but it's definitely the Red Tail

Their little black velvet bodies and red booty = instant joy

Shh don't tell my garden it's almost October, it's not worked it out yet by @madeleineinthegarden

Grab Your Gourds, The 'Ber Months Are Here 🍂

Confession-these are not from The Mad Garden, they're my amazing pal's harvest but they make such good photo props that I had to upgrade them to the grid rather than just the story 🎃 🤣

September harvests

Tomatoes- Sgt Pepper, Vivacious, Tumbling Tom, Bunny Kisses, RSF Dippers Delight
Padrons
Tiger Jalepeños
Sweet Pepper
Roquito peppers

Sgt Pepper toms are my favourite 😍

Sgt Pepper Tomatoes

Tiger Jalepeños..I let them get red so they lost their stripes. The have behaved nothing like regular Jalepeños in terms of size or corking so who knows

More roquitos, I've pickled a bunch and a lonely sweet pepper

Tomato Mix

Pimientos de Padron...including one that will definitely blow your head off but sometimes even the larger green ones are sneaky 🤯 by @madeleineinthegarden

Chaos Tomatoes 🍅

I see other people letting volunteer toms do their thing so why not? Spacing, supporting and blight be damned.

I have plenty fruit from the organised lot so 🤷🏼‍♀️ by @madeleineinthegarden

Other colours are available 🌸

Couldn't resist a pink garden tour to a song by a fellow gardener 💕

SNL Cosmos edition 🌸

I don't know why Dooneese is as she is.
But we love her anyway

Late summer sowing

Bit of a race until the first frosts but thought I'd take the risk on keeping the bed going.

I hear the colder temps make for better sweetness for carrots too. I'm a sucker for an unusual variety so I've been back to @shegrowsveg for some funky beets and carrots

We made it to the weekend where Verbena Bonariensis continues to bring ALL the pollinators to the yard
