Put my heart and soul into honoring this Russian Icon with this comition to design and fabricate a silver cover to dress the Icon of Virgin Mary and Child

This Icon is known as "Assuage my Sorrows".
Shows the Mother of God with Her left hand placed under Her slightly tilted head, suggesting that the Queen of Heaven listens to the tears and the prayers of all the faithful who appeal to her with their needs, woes and sorrows. With Her right hand the Holy Virgin holds onto the Divine Infant. The Saviour holds in His hands an open scroll before Him, on which the following words are inscribed:
“Judge righteously; each show mercy to one another; do not offend widows and orphans, and do not keep malice in your heart towards your brother.”

Handmade repoussé in fine Silver sheet.
Frame ornamented with amber, chrysocolla and carnelian.
Halo ornamented with garnets, lapis lazuli, ruby and malachites.

This in my entry for #motherlove21workingmom hosted by my dear friend Mel from @ladyluckvintageshop

A mother is a life giver. The second she brings a life to this world, her job begins and it will never end from that moment on.
A MOM is like a multitasking wonder woman competent and reliable. She is like an octopus magic maker at her everyday job.
My mother's commitment started with her wedding band that she gave to me when it didn't fit her anymore and I wear constantly along with my own. Very soon in her marriage she had children and she has been a full time impeccable mom ever since. She really takes her job seriously.

I went training yesterday to a little town called "el diamante" ( the diamond) . As I was running I was thinking about today's post. I looked up the road that seemed never ending....then it hit me, that's exactly how motherhood is!!. There is no time measure in a mother's clock. Her job continues even after parting this world for her untangible presence will always reach out her hand with her wisdom that is never forgotten.
To the side I saw this mountain that seemed like an inverted diamond.
The word diamond comes from the Greek "adamas" that means "INVINCIBLE" for it is the hardest naturally occurring substance.
It has become a symbol of comittment, strengh and courage. And its perfect structure has a unique power of reflection....does it not describe motherhood to perfection?
I here share my mom's wedding band, my solitaire diamond and my own precious wedding band... while on my finger these rings empower me fully to keep on this infinite road of a working mom where time has no measure.

Thank you ladies for this wonderful challenge!

This is my entry for #motherlove21madonna challenge hosted by @BRCollectionstore .
My grandfather was Catholic and deeply devoted to Mother Mary. He was a widower with 14 children and 75 grandchildren and he had this gift to pass this devotion onto his family in a very sutil way. I can say I share his devotion deeply.
In my country we are used to wear a religious medal practically since birth.
My mother has always worn a beautiful medallion of a Maddona that she got at her baptism, it is ALWAYS hanging from a very thin long chain around her neck.
I got my baptism medallion in my chain, and then...more medallions came to me for different reasons or meanings. So now from my chain hangs the Lady of Coromoto( patron of Venezuela), Lady of Guadalupe ( patron of México), Miraculous Medal, Mary's Sacred heart among others.

I have always been fascinated by sacred art. For some reason I am drawn to visit beautiful chapels and enjoy this art in museums when I get the chance to travel.
I guess I carry the same feelings my grandfather had.
This devotion led me to start painting icons and then followed the silver work to adorn them leading finally to silversmith were I have enjoyed making jewelry of religious medallions many times.
Sacred art is a big part of my work.
The image I here share as a Madonna for this challenge is an Icon of the Virgin Mary and child I painted and enhanced with a silver repousse frame and halo. On top is the chain that has been my companion since my baptism with all the religious medallions that protect me.
In the frame I engraved a prayer I learned that says:

Dulce Madre no te alejes
Tu Vista de mi no aparte
Ven conmigo a todas partes
Y nunca sola me dejes
Contigo voy Virgen Pura
Y en tu poder voy confiada
Pues yendo de ti amparada
Mi alma volverá segura.

Sweet Mother don't go far
Don't turn your sight away from me
Come with me everywere
And never leave me.
I go with you Virgin Pure
And in your power I go confident
For in you I go sheltered
So my soul will return safe.

This is my entry for the #MotherLove21MomsCooking challenge hosted by my dear friend Stacey from @Sheldonhill_vintagejewels.

Food is a mean for family gathering in most cultures. Each season has special dishes and people enjoy getting together and sharing recipes as an act of generosity and friendship, at least in my country.
A recipe can be like a little secret that when shared it is a proof of a big love.
My mom "handwrote" me a book of recipes, a big one. It took her a very long time and I saw her writing with her pencil and eraser like a little girl doing her homework. It is a priceless treasure to pass along generations that I will cherish forever.

But my MOM also cooked thoroughly my passion for jewelry ever since I was a child.
Looking up to her being so beautiful and always adorned with the right pieces for each occasion really cooked my fascination up to a point of wanting to learn the skill of making my own pieces.

It is so fun when I hear my friend Stacey say: "we're still cooking with gas!"....well... now being a jewelry lover, a jewelry maker and a MOM I am ACTUALLY cooking with gas, with my torch and my oven, making pieces that I hope are appealing to the taste of my children so they can carry along this joy of jewelry that I have.

The pieces shown here are Vermeil (Gold over Sterling Silver) with labradorite and ruby and were part of a competition wich theme was: etruscan revival. My collection was called "Presagio" (Omen) . In the second picture the model is my daughter Paula.

This is my entry for the mother's day giveaway that my friend Laxmi from @erikas_artifacts is hosting. Today's theme is "Mother May I.
For me...Mamá, puedo???

I have a true passion for antique jewelry because the thought of all the secrets and stories this pieces hide fascinate me. I wonder about the women who wore them, how they looked and felt and what kind of lives they had.
How many times these pieces have heard a little girl's voice ask her mom as I did once:
Mother may I wear your treasure? ...probably seeking to be more like that one person that means the world in her heart.
