Oh hey 👋 It’s been a while since my last post because - honestly - I’ve been sad and missing my Nia 🐶 But I have been working on my surface design portfolio. This small collection which I call Decadent Decay is inspired by my love of Autumn and spooky season (with limited spookiness, please). I made this collection in two color palettes. This green one is muted and I call it Dusk. The other one is called Dawn. (Fellow “Foundation” fans I did not make a Day. Too dangerous.) 💀💚 by @maggiesayswhat

My sweet Nia Luna passed away this week. I miss her so much. She was silly and fast and beautiful and loved laying in the sunshine and being snuggled up in fuzzy blankets and satin pillows. She had the cutest speckled belly and gave amazingly judgy side eye. The sound of her little yawns and snores always filled my heart to near bursting. I’m so thankful she was in our lives. ❤️💔 by @maggiesayswhat

My sweet old girl may finally be warming up to the idea of parties. And this was before she tasted her first bite of hot dog.
🌭 🐶
It’s really hard seeing Nia get older. She’s still her same sweet self, just a bit slower, sleepier, and more opinionated.
😉🥰🐶
Oh how I love this beautiful girl! by @maggiesayswhat

Day 6 prompt: Wolf 🐺 This prompt was great because I got to look at lots of photos of cute doggos –er – intense wolves 😉 After going cuckoo with color yesterday, I stuck with pencil today. Since this whole project is all about me exercising my creative muscles after a long period of dormancy, I’m just going for it. #witchtober2025 #inktoberwe2025 by @maggiesayswhat

Witchtober Day Two: Raven I tried a few things here that worked and several things that did not 😜 But overall I’m pleased with this spooky bird. There are ravens in my neighbor’s tree and I find these birds fascinating. And loud! 😆 #witchtober2025 #inktoberwe2025 by @maggiesayswhat

Like so many of us, I was saddened to hear of Dr Jane Goodall’s passing yesterday. What a life she lived! Her work taught the world so much about animals *and* humans. I have long admired her and feel very fortunate to have met her. While a student at @pennstate I helped her and her team when she came to campus to give a talk. Her talk was wonderful and she was so kind. She even shared her chocolates with me! I feel fortunate to have been on this planet at the same time as the curious, caring, generous, hard working Dr Goodall. Thankfully, so many smart, dedicated folks were impacted and guided by the work she did so that that work will continue. by @maggiesayswhat

Friends, I’m back on my patterns. I’ve had a rocky relationship with my creative side for the past few years but I recently felt a pull back to surface pattern design. So I signed up for a course from the talented, creative, encouraging @bonniechristine To start, I’m stretching my sketching muscles. Expect to see more drawing and patterns from me. And, my friends, feel free to gently prod me if you don’t! by @maggiesayswhat

My awesome local bookstore hosted one of my favorite authors last night. Had good conversations with other nerds in the audience and John Scalzi read us an excerpt from an upcoming novel. Afterwards he signed a copy of his most recent book for us and we obliged when he asked for a photo 😉 Thank you @jscalzi and @bookshopsc 📚 by @maggiesayswhat

My community SHOWED UP. I was overwhelmed (in the best way) to see so many people at the No Kings rally today. I got goose bumps and started to cry when I got there and saw everyone. It was peaceful and positive and serious and hopeful and encouraging and creative (seriously – so many good signs!) I needed to be with my community today. It was helpful to know how many other folks are feeling similarly and to know how many resources we, the people, have to help one another. 🇺🇸 by @maggiesayswhat

A sunset walk was just the thing today. My pup wholeheartedly agrees. Every time we do this I wonder why we don’t do this every single day. 🌊 🌅 by @maggiesayswhat
