Is it possible for three weeks to feel like a lifetime? So much has happened since my arrival in Prague. A friend asked how it was going, and I word-vomited an answer at him about being sick, having bedbugs, keeping up with classes, worrying about deportation, working while studying, and everything else that has made up the last few weeks. "Holy crap, Maia," he said. "Just holy crap. That's a lot of everything. Every time I'm like, 'oh no! Is she going to be okay?!' I'm like, 'wait... This is just a Wednesday for her at this point. She got it.'" And he's right. It's a lot... and I've got it. It's a lot, but every time I'm out walking around, feeling stressed, I'm like... but look at this fucking architecture! And then I'm good for another minute. Another hour. Another day. So far this experience has been strange and beautiful and hard and stressful and lovely. No other way to describe it. It's all the things, and I'm so glad to be on this journey. Stressful parts, included. So here's a photo dump of the beginning of the path ♡ by @maias.misadventure
Absolutely blessed in this life to have people who encourage my crazy ass ideas. To have family who tells me they look to me to learn to fly, instead of clipping my wings. I woke to this message from my stepdad on the day I left the US. It made me cry that morning, and I'm sure it'll make me cry many more times. "It's always okay, it's never easy. Sometimes it's so overwhelmingly beautiful." 😭💜✨️ by @maias.misadventure

I leave the country in just a few days, but in the meantime, here's some of the beauty I've seen recently in this one 😍 August 7th New York by @maias.misadventure
✨️Life Announcement ✨️ I'm moving out of the country. It has been such a long, involved process to get to this announcement, that I almost don't know where to start. But here are some highlights... Spring 2025, I decided I wanted to go to university and began researching programs. Through researching application processes, it came to light that many of the programs I was interested in wanted to see my SAT scores, which I couldn't provide, because I had never taken it. So last fall, while stuck in Canada with a broken down van, I bought an SAT study guide and spent 3 months cramming 5 years of forgotten math back into my head. In December, I took the SAT. 13 years out of highscool. Oof. In Febuary, I submitted applications to two university programs. In March, I was invited to take the entrance exam for one of those programs. At 4am, I might add, due to the time difference. ✨️In April, I was accepted to the university✨️ If only that was the hard part of the whole thing 😅 but no. Me being me, I applied to a university in Europe. So from April til last week, I was busy collecting documents, communicating with the university, the embassy, my old high school, translators, people who do background checks, organizations that like to give me headaches, driving to DC, and hoping beyond hope that I hadn't quit my management job and wasted countless hours and money on this dream. It was stressful, to say the least. And with so very many ways the whole thing could go sideways, I stayed very quiet about all of this until it was a sure thing. I didn't want to explain over and over what went wrong. ✨️But now, finally, it's a sure fucking thing ✨️ My long- term residence permit was approved on Friday (hence the teary, vague sad post on Saturday lol), and I am moving to the Czech Republic at the end of the month. My classes start October 1st. Holy. Shit. It has been months of hurry up and wait, and now we're back to the hurry part, as I quickly tidy up my life in preparation to leave for several years. I'll miss everyone immensely, but new paths are calling. Here comes the next chapter... I suspect it will be quite the ride. Wish me luck by @maias.misadventure

I prayed in the church of the forest, baptized myself in her waterfalls, and emerged with my soul refreshed and my body tired. Exactly as I like it ✨️ sometimes you just need a reset by @maias.misadventure
An excerpt from my journal; The oil of a thousand hands before mine have smoothed the root beneath my palm. 10,000. A hundred thousand. Hands trailing back to early settlers. I may be alone in the woods, but I walk with all those who have passed before me. Step in their footprints, worn deep in the rock. If anyone ever tells you you’re being unrealistic, remind them a huge ball of fire in the sky keeps our planet alive and tell them to go fuck themselves. With love, of course ♡ by @maias.misadventure
