i am finally getting back into drawing during this break after doing basically only painting all semester- sorry the lighting is kinda bad and it’s a little pieces together but i felt like it would be important to document some fun sketches :)

BLOODSHED, DEATH, AND MASSACRE! (2023)

a painting done for my painting studio class exploring how text is used in painting- I wanted to focus on how text can alter someone's preconcieved notions of something/somebody. Without the text in this painting, it would read like a silly little cat at his birthday party. however, since the text is there, it causes you to second guess who this cat is and what his motives are. I definitely want to explore this concept more so prepare for several more iterations! :D

PETRI - 2023

my first abstract piece! this is one of the most challenging pieces i’ve made this semester- abstraction is a weirdly difficult concept for my brain to work around. for this piece, i focused mostly on color and material study. i really enjoyed experimenting with applying paint in different ways, using both dry and wet brushing to achieve different looks, and thinking about how i can arrange colors in deferent way to achieve different aesthetics. this painting has no meaning (very rare for me lol) and just exists to look cool :)
