welcome to my pottery IG! I'm Britt, a hobbyist potter. my partner and I found our love for pottery at @staunton_clayground shortly after we moved to staunton from florida. after taking 3 classes there, we were hooked! after several months of learning this penguin was the first piece I was truly happy with! the assignment was a donut vase and for some reason my mind went to "a penguin donut with a waffle cone hat and melted ice cream base". my art style is partly japanese inspired, and they make very cute donuts over there, so I suspect that's where it came from ๐Ÿฉ this was the first time I was able to conceptualize what I wanted to make and was able to see it through to completion, as opposed to the clay just doing whatever it wants! he was painted with @speedball_ceramics underglazes and clear coated. the waffle cone was dipped but ended up crawling, but I don't hate it! Definitely want to make more animal donuts in the future! #ceramics #art #pottery #penguin #pottersofinstagram by @makeshiftpottery

Happy #Baturday Halloween! We're wrapping up a most wonderful #BatWeek and #BatAppreciationMonth. We saw an amazing amount of wonderful bat content from friends and colleagues. And we are touched by the outpouring of support for our tiny org and Virginia's vanishing bats!
