some little details from our bridal photoshoot with Dede 🤍

soft skin, fluttery lashes, delicate lace and a very romantic mood. I loved keeping Dede’s makeup soft and timeless while still letting all the little details come through.

definitely one of those looks that makes me want to do bridal makeup forever!

If you’re new here, hi!! I’m Shanel, a Melbourne makeup artist who also loves painting, musicals, pickleball and taking board games a little too seriously 🙂‍↕️

I’m trying to share more of the person behind the makeup, not just the finished looks. Because there’s a lot more going on outside of my makeup kit (too much sometimes)

now I wanna know: what’s something about you that people would never guess from your Instagram? 👀 tell me in the comments so we can get to know each other!

and if you love seeing the person behind the work, stick around 🫶

spooky season

I win 9/10 board games. My friends will tell you that but begrudgingly

But if it’s a paid job, I will do it

One of my proudest moments as a teacher

My cute family hehe

SERIOUSLY ITS ON THEATRES RN. 1000/10 WOULD RECOMMEND. But also I was involved in 3 musicals in high school so I have developed so much appreciation for productions as I know how much work goes behind it!!

Before this photo we realised the skates were two left skates

It’s especially hard now that I’m running a business but we try to make time for each other even by sending reels 🥳

But I am happy that I ended up in this situation 🥹🫶🏻 by @makeup.by.shanel

A beautiful bridal editorial with @joy._.youjin 🤍

From the elegance of the gown by @madeinbridal to the beautiful makeup by @makeup.by.shanel, every detail came together to create something timeless and graceful.

It was also a pleasure having @jaimesfocus join us throughout the entire shoot and capture the moments alongside me. A genuinely fun collaboration from start to finish.

Shot on Sigma 24–70mm with Sony A7C II.

The secret to covering pigmentation isn’t always more foundation - it’s colour correction!

For Joy’s beautiful birthmark, I used a peachy-orange colour corrector to help neutralise the cooler, blue tones before layering foundation over the top.

Colour theory makes such a difference when it comes to achieving more even coverage without piling on product!

And remember, birthmarks are beautiful - makeup is simply a choice when you want a little extra coverage. 🤍

Save this for your next makeup application!

The process vs the final photo 📸

I was sooo excited to get these back 🥹 There’s something so satisfying about seeing the makeup in my chair → watching it get photographed → and then finally seeing the finished headshots.

Definitely want to do more shoots like this!

3 faces, 3 hours 🤍

A little look at how I work through a bridal party - 1 hour per face, with each look still tailored to them and what they feel best in 🫶🏼 my second and third client asked for really natural lashes! I’ve been getting quite a few requests of this recently so I’ve been stocking up 🙌
